So everyone saw the chemistry that Marner, Dvorak and Tkachuk had with the knights. Would be cool to see the three of them play together at the nhl lever and see if that chemistry could continue.

Toronto - 2017 First round pick, Percy, Wash 2nd

Oilers - 2016 - 4th overall

Toronto - Kappenen, Pits first ( 29/ 30)

Arizona - Dvorak

Thoughts?

I just don't see anything the Leafs have (other than Reilly, which would never happen) that would make the Oilers move the 4th OA to Toronto. They want/need a top 4 NHL D-man for this pick.

The value for Dvorak seems a little high IMO, and doesn't address what the Leafs need which is Defense and goaltending.

Leafs need to focus on balanced drafting, so we don't turn into the Oilers!

Plus, if Marner was that good with Dvorak and Tkachuk. just imagine how good he will be with Matthews/Nylander/JVR, etc.

There is an article written on this subject

The article basically says that its not worth giving up assets and picks to get Dvorak and Tkachuk

If Edmonton trades the 4th pick it will be for someone who has already established themselves as an nhl regular. Likely a D-man

I like the Edm trade

Dvorak (3rd year in London) - he was the recipient of incredible passes by Marner all year long and his numbers are a little inflated by simple tap in's. And it's a lot to give up for him, but then Kappenen hasn't panned out yet.

Tkachuk on the other hand got a lot of his points by crashing the crease. He's aggressive, and plays a complete game. There's a lot of talent shown there in his 1st year in London (107 pts; playoffs 20G, 20A). He has his fathers drive, and a gift around the net.

Neither Marner nor Dvorak had these totals in their 1st year despite the Knights having a pretty good team that year.

So yes, it's a lot to give up, but at some point you have to congeal the team talent and strip away the froth.

Marner was the reason dvorak and Tkachuk were playing so well. He drove that line and whole team. Ya Dvorak and Tkachuk might end up being good NHL players but I can bet they won't be as dominant without Marner. The linemates Cory Perry played with in London when he ripped the league up never succeeded on the NHL level.

My point is Dvorak and Tkachuk may turn out being good NHL players but don't get caught up on the hype. They could end up being bust too. There's a reason Dvorak was drafted in the 2nd round. He wasnt labeled that elite type of player in his draft year. Marner is the real deal and I believe will be the 2nd or 3rd best player in his draft year behind Mcdavid. He makes players around him better and I can wait too see him doing magic with Matthews and Nylander

I think a JVR Matthews Marner line would be something much more exciting in a couple years
