Way too much for Dougie Hamilton. Give up Jake Gardiner, picks and a prospect for Hamilton.

Why would flames trade Hamilton after they created one of the best blielines In the NHL? @nylander lol flames don't want Gardiner, he's pretty good offensively and can move the puck but he is a liability on defence and flames have Giordano and Brodie on LD who are way better overall.

Similar trade proposals were previously shared with similar results. First, Calgary isn't trading Hamilton (at least not for what is proposed in this trade) . They paid a premium to get Hamilton and he's on their top D pairing. Why would any team in their right mind give up a top pairing d for a soon to be UFA, a very good third line winger and futures?

For Toronto to get someone like Hamilton, they would be forced to give up something significant.

This is why it's imperative for the Leafs to continue to draft well, and develop well within.

False. Every single metric of player evaluation created past the 1960s has Gardiner as the best defenseman of those listed. Hamilton would be nice but Gardiner for Hamilton makes us worse. As for defensive liability Gardiner is actually one of the best in the NHL. Read a bit sometime.

Leafstalk. Haaa! Lmao. Gardiner one of the best defensive d-men in the NHL? Are you on crack? Clearly you don't see many Leaf games but it makes sense that you must be a figure skating fan cause that is what Gardiner does with the puck in his own end. Then he dishes off the puck off his stick like the puck is a live grenade. Gardiner is a below average d-man in the defensive zone and 50/ 50 in the offensive zone. He has an inconsistent shot from the point. Leafs would be wise to part ways with Gardiner in a package to upgrade the defense.

One less point than doughty this year. One more point than Weber. I would say slightly better than 50/ 50. And on defence rocking a 53% Corsi. When Gardiner is on the ice the leafs are a much better team and if you watched some playoff hockey you'd see he did a pretty damn good job matching up against the caps best. Hockey's changing man get with the program.

Hey Leafstalk - Corsi ratings are pure garbage. There is a reason why Babcock sheltered Gardiner away from playing against top opposition forward lines. Gardiner would be one of the first players I would trade cause he is American and there are only a select few American hockey players who are or were good defencemen (Housley, Chelios, Werenski) . Gardiner is nowhere even close to those three.
