If the Leafs are able to sign Pietrangelo tomorrow

To CLB: G - F. Andersen + F - A. Johnsson + D - T. Dermott (rights)

To TOR: G - J. Korpisalo + D - D. Savard

Cap in for Columbus is $8.4M, however cash paid this year is $3.6M. They still need to negotiate with Dermott though. Cap out for them is $7M with cash of $6.2M

For the Leafs, they lower their cap hit by $1.4M to gain more cap space to sign Pietrangelo.

Still will need to move out another player, likely Kerfoot and/or Holl. Or they could re-flip Savard as he will be a UFA at the end of the year

That is what it will be. Without the cap increase, they'll need to fill with league minimum players

The deals they signed with Matthews and Marner were on a presumption of cap increase each of the next few years. The Leafs screwed on that.

I don’t think this works salary cap wise. Even if u take out the Pietro part of your proposal. I like the Columbus trade proposal especially if u can extend Savard,

If you're carrying too much top-end salary you can't ice a competitive team. Welcome to the Cap World that every other fan base lives in.

Agrees chicken foot. Need to move Marner if you want a guy like Petro. 50% on 4 guys, you can't make that 65% on 5 guys. Especially with Reilly coming up.
