Salary works both ways.

But to solve the problems for Toronto Dubas needed to pull up his big boy pants and trade Ballarina Willy.

Miles Woods, Nathan Bastian

Frees up 4 million in cap space and could allow more room to get another player. If Dubas would just smarten up and see that two 20 goal scorers are better than one proposed to 30 goal scorer with no grit!

For all you Nylander lovers out there if you can't see that Matthews or Tavares don't want to play with Nylander then your blind or nieve.

I don’t know if Pittsburgh does this deal but it’s fair value depending who you ask.

Miled wood I like and yes this deal saves 4 million to use elsewhere but if nylander got traded that’s basically it for adding to this roster so you better get 2 guys worth at least 6 million combined or that 4 million will just sit all year never to get used

You can’t afford top end skill wise to deal the other 3. Muzzin Brodie can’t go anywhere. Rielly would be a dumb move. Holl is playing like a 4 million player right now. The rest of the D are all just plugs. I can’t see Mikhayev or Hyman going anywhere. Thornton and summoned Cant. Spezza won’t and vesey who cares. Guess you could deal kerfoot but then to spend even 2 million extra I don’t see anyone giving up a 5.5 player back for him. The rest are all plugs.

I mean Keats have future 1sts but realistically only have 3 viable prospects worth anything to gain a 4 million dollar forward. Liljegren isn’t worth enough to move needle as solid add. Really it’s this deal then done so hopefully you are happy enough with miles bastian to make this deal

Miles isn’t a 20 goal man yet. He flirted with it once then 2 years if blah. Amazing 3rd liner would be great beside kerfoot and jankowski. Bastian gets shot with Mikhayev and Tavares and Hyman Matthews marner gets back together. The 4th line is actually good with vesey spezza simmonds with simmonds flip flopping with bastian.

I mean it’s not bad but the 3 with the role they become on this team might flirt with 40 maybe 50 goals combined if lucky however nylander stays and vesey and simmonds simply slide up to 3rd line while any plugger fills in bottom 2 spots. I’m sure 40 goals plus the extra goals vesey and sim minds get with more time might get leafs 50 or 60 now.

Trading nylander yes. Like his dad if he doesn’t smarten up could have a 15 year 7 team career never staying with same team after the leafs more than 2 years. Just sayin smarting up nylander you’re better than this.

I had basically the same trade up for Nylander when we were searching for a top 4 D, but it was Willy for Severson, Wood and Bastian. At 2.75, Wood was overpaid for his production at the time and Willy was coming off of his 30 goal season. We should still be able to get more than Wood and Bastian, but I am a big Miles Wood fan though.

We don't need Severson anymore, but NY could still use a young, quality LD. So here is my suggestion.

The negative is that we probably lose Wood in the expansion draft, where we were likely losing Holl or Dermott.
