San Jose gets Willy and takes Vesey. More importantly, Willy gets San Jose. He will be protected on the ice with Kane riding shotgun on his line. He can get himself a nice water front property and stroll down the beach. It's a bit of a flight, 5 hours, but he can hop over to Hawaii for a photo shoot and post Instagram shots of him in a grass skirt and Hoog style sunglasses. Oh, what a time Willy could have. Even re-unites with locker room father figure Marleau. He rents a room to Vesey after Vesey gets put on waivers.

Calgary picks up a 3rd line winger in Donato that shouldn't cost a ton to re-sign. They have depth with Brooks. They save a little on the cap. They make a change and get a decent return on Bennett.

Leafs pick up Hertl and Bennett for the same cap hit as Nylander and Vesey. Bennett and Hertl flank Tavares on the second line while Hyman Engvall and Mikheyev make up the third line. Leafs then move Kerfoot down to the 4th line. Kerfoot Spezza and Boyd become one of the best 4th lines in hockey. When Simmonds comes back someone will have to sit out or we trade someone off at the TDL for picks and cap space.

How about nylanser for Kane straight up. Now when Simmons comes back he has his own bash brother.

As much as Kane's off-ice stuff could be a distraction, I would do that in a second. Anything to get rid of Nylander. I have no idea why SJ would do a straight up swap though.
