I have said Rielly to NYR a few times and K Miller would be my target. NYR just made more cap space by moving Buchnevich so that don't have to re-sign him and bringing back Blais at $1.5M. I still think they are after Eichel, but why not Eichel and Rielly. I figure they will want Buffalo to take Strome and his $4.5M cap hit. They will likely also need their 1sts for that deal.

NYR picks up a proven top pair LD and have the cap space to re-sign him. They have the LD depth to ne able to move Miller. If they are after Eichel, they still have the pieces to make a deal there as there prospect pool is deep and they still have their 1sts left to trade.

Tor picks up a cheaper top 4 D, a solid LW prospect in Chytil who could turn out to be a good compliment to one of the two top lines, although he is not a physical player. Gettinger adds young bottom 6 depth and the extra 2nd if Rielly extends in New York. Leafs should gain at least $2-$3M in cap space depending on what they re-sign Chytil for (should be a bridge deal) and if Gettinger(who should be re-signed cheap) makes the team.

Leafs will be better off cap wise now and in the future and have the room to go after a guy like Bertuzzi and still get a goalie.

This is the type of deal Dubas needs to make before all the buyers have already bought.

Just to add. I have said in the past that this draft is kind of a crap shoot and probably has a lot to do with the type of returns we are seeing for D-men. Next years draft should be closer to normal circumstances. Dubas really needs to see that the market is NOW for Rielly if he hasn't already missed his best opportunity to a team that looked elsewhere (Van/ Edm? ) .

With how much Jones brought in
2021 1st (12th-sillinger) , 2021 2nd (44th) which was used to get Jake Bean, 2022 1st unless Chicago gets lottery picks then it becomes 2023 1st and boqvist (2018 8th overall) . Columbus did give Chicago a late 1st 2021 and 2022 6th as well.

Now rielly and Jones are same situation having 1 year left before ufa. Jones also agreed to a 8yr extension for this return to happen. Jones is RHD and I’d rate a bit higher than rielly. Jones is top 15 dman
Rielly maybe around top 30

That said
Miller 22nd 2018 = 2021 1st
Chytil 21st 2017 = 2022 1st
Gettinger 5th rd 2016= throw in
2nd rounder = 2nd rounder

A Boqvist type player isn’t included because Leafs don’t include a late 1st or 6th rd puck and Jones is better than rielly but gettinger makes up this difference

Sounds like a solid deal, though I think it's missing one more piece.
I believe NY should also get a low draft pick, maybe NY gets a 2023 5th round since the Leafs don't have anything to give in 2022.
