*Washington retains 1.8m each year for 4yrs of Kuznetsov's remaining contract.

Washington needs that Top Left Shooting Defenceman to play with Carlson and Rielly would be a great fit, Kerfoot of course isn't close in talent to Kuznetsov but is still a solid 2 way Centre, and Holmberg has turned heads with his solid play in The Swedish League and at 22yrs old he could be part of The Capitals Team this upcoming season.

Toronto is adding another Top Centre upfront which only makes them better to potentially have 3 Top Lines, Rielly and his Contract ending after this season is the main reason The Leafs would do this, plus it opens the door for a more important roll for Dermott, and space on Defense for Sandin and Liljegren to play fulltime.

This type of trade proposal for both Teams wouldn't have happened a few years before, but with Kuznetsov on the block, Rielly on an expiring contract, and where both rosters sit today, this trade proposal makes a lot of sense.
