Thought I would get in on the JT Miller trade suggestions.

3 team blockbuster

Van
Kerfoot $3.5M(T)
Zacha $2.25M(NJ)

NJ
Nylander $6.96M(T)

Tor
Miller $5.25M(V)
McLeod $.975M(NJ)
2022 2nd(NJ)


Van gets hometown boy Kerfoot and former 6th overall pick Zacha for Miller. Gives them two more options that have both played wing and C. Two NHLers for the price of one and only add $.5M to their cap.

NJ gets the best offensive player in the deal, Nylander. They give up Zacha, McLeod and a 2nd. Zacha has not reached his 6th overall value in NJ and McLeod has become a very dependable defensive centre, but Nylander adds a whole new element for a team on the verge of breaking out.

Toronto revamps their 2nd line to one that is more physical and grinding which should suit Tavares better. Miller(can score and plays physical) and Mcleod(great speed, forecheck and very good defensively) are signed for another season which helps Toronto's cap situation as they cleared $4.235M in cap space. They can still hunt for a rental D if they like.

I like this trade. Fooling around on the edges is not going to help. Leafs need to get tougher to play against. This improves the second line both on offence and defence. It also Leafs room for a defenceman.

I'm not sure about this one. I feel like Van may want an add.

Miller for Zacha and Kerfoot seems a bit light to me.

Kind of like the trade but can’t help but wonder if Vancouver wouldn’t prefer Nylander to play with Petterson, than Kerfoot and Zacha.
But you never know.
Both Miller and McLeod are good fits but it leaves Leafs short on right wing and doesn’t answer any of their defensive issues.
I think there are better scenarios that cover more of the Leafs needs.
