Since this trade got some interest from some on here.

Nylander $6.96
Sandin RFA

McLeod $.950
Foote $.863M
Okhotyuk(this is the sleeper in the trade)
2022 2nd
2023 1st

Moves to fill out the rest of the team

Liljegren RFA
Steeves $.834

Weegar $3.25M

Florida has major cap issues. They need cheap, serviceable players that can play on the NHL roster. Leafs need a top 4 RD.

Robertson $.797M

Stolarz $.950M
Jones $1.295M

Ana looks like they may be in rebuild mode and have tons of good prospects and cap space. Robertson adds another quality young prospect to their mix. Leafs get a solid tandem type goalie who could be more like Campbell has been. Jones adds some 4th line size.

Mrazek $3.8M

Connolly $3.5M

I have said this one before because it just makes a ton of sense for both teams imo. Leafs then buyout Connolly.

Cap out $10.76 (Nylander,Mrazek)
Cap in $7.612 (McLeod,Weegar,Stolarz,Jones, Connolly buyout.)

Leafs have about $11M to fill roster.

Sandin 2X$2M
Engvall 2X$1.9M
Holtby 1X$3M
Spezza 1X$.750M
Blackwell 1X$.9M

About $1.5M left.

Bunting Matthews Marner
Kerfoot Tavares McLeod
Foote Kampf Engvall
Spezza Blackwell Jones

Rielly Weegar
Muzzin Brodie
Sandin Gio

@RLF. didn't you trade Sandin?

@Loxley. Good catch. Yep, my bad. Holl should be with Gio. I am hoping Rubins can make the jump so he would be #7.

@RLF I am probably one of the few Nylander fans on this site, but I would do this trade. Leafs pick up some good young players and prospects. Hopefully Nolan can generate some toughness and energy to that 3rd line.
I like all your trades except the Weegar trade. I think Liljegren is well on his way to being a top 4RD and is much younger and should be less costly than Weegar.
What are the buyout numbers for Connolly?
I honestly feel that Kampf should be our 4C so I would like to target a 3C with the extra saved cap space (maybe a Ryan Strome if we have enough cap space and forego resigning Blackwell) .

@RLF i didn't cross reference all cap hits. but what are your thougths on Leafs trying to complete/ make a trade with Preds to bring up Myers who they loaned to the Marlies. maybe sending them back Holl and having them retain on Myers salary. I follow a leaf fan on youtube and he is big into stats and analytics in his videos and talked about Myers and from his numbers Myers seems to be the type of guy that performs good when paired with a top guy as opposed to how he plays not so good if he is on a bottom pair.

I only ask cause i like he size and all the potential he seemed to have/ has. ideally Preds buy him out and we can sign him cheaper.

@RLF. question about your Mrazek deal. why do you say it makes sense. cause i know i saw something on Mrazek where 1st year would be $1mil cap hit for first year. $833000 for 2nd year and up to 144 3rd year. is Connolly's better than that?

First one I like.

Weegar trade I think you're light. They probably ask for a fair amount more as he has performed very well for that price tag.

I like the Stolarz trade, but it comes with risks. Really depends how you see Soup and what kind of deal he gets.

Mrazek for Connoly is still the most creative way to move on from Mrazek.

The Leafs will not have to do that trade with Mrazek to Chicago.
If they can not package him in a trade they will just put him on waivers and if he clears then buy out the 1.1 million owed on his AHL salary difference

Also love the New Jersey trade.

Leafs should then look to sign UFAS, Marchment and Hagg from Flordia as they are not going to resign them with thier upcoming cap issues.

Toronto also needs to secure the rights to Phillip Myers from the Biega trade.

@Tagz. The buyout on Connolly is $1.167 for two years. With Mrazek gone, it opens up $2.7 almost in cap space. Weegar means we don't have to re-sign Lyubushkin and Weegar is already an established top 4. I like Liljegren's progress as well.

@Loxley. I have posted Myers for Holl trade actually multiple times, even in the reg season. I would do it in a second. I actually prefer Kerfoot and Holl for Trenin and Myers if Leafs could pull it off. Mrazek makes sense because Chi has no goalie and Connolly is in the minors costing them $2.375M against the cap anyway. They basically get Mrazek for $1.425 extra on the cap. Mrazek would be on the Leafs cap for 4 years with the final two years being $1.4M, right when Marner is due. Connolly's buyout ends when Matthews becomes due again.

@LL. You may be right on it light for Weegar, but they will desperately be looking to move cap this summer and Liljegren has looked better and better as the season went on. Steeves had a great first year in the A. Trying to take advantage of the Panthers, but it may be light. Stolarz is a risk and why I overpaid for one year of Holtby.

@PG. You can't buyout what is left after you send a guy down to the A. You have to buyout his NHL contract. That is 4 years that Mrazek will be on the books with the last two the biggest cap hit. I also like the Myers for Holl trade.

@LL. Forgot to mention on Weegar. Weegar is also on his last year of his contract and then going to expect a good raise. FLA won't be able to afford it in a year either.

@RLF good call. I forgot Weegar wasn't locked up long term. Probably fair value then for a rental. Good prop.

@RLF I realized that Mrazek issue after posted my comment. should have gone to cap friendly. for some reason i thought it was only 3 years and like ya said Hawks will probly need a goalie. also remember talking about Myers. i think we both liked that idea at the time. still do apparently. lol.

Agree with Tagz44.
Kampf should be Leafs 4th line center.

Don’t see NJ giving Leafs three young players with upside plus 1st and 2nd round picks for Nylander and Sandin.

I would prefer Nylander, Kerfoot, Holl and Leafs 1st round pick (28th I believe) for NJ’s 1st round pick, #2 overall in 2022 and McLeod.
Leafs dump $10.4 (- McLeods cap hit) in salary if NJ has the cap space.
Not even sure that’s enough to swing the deal.
