Anaheim Trades
2nd Round Pick 2023*

Toronto Trades
Muzzin
Simmonds
Woll (AHL)

*Ducks will choose one of the three 2nd Round Picks they have in The 2023 Draft, Boston's, Colorado's or their own.

Toronto looking to clear out Cap Space would clear out 6.5 million in this proposal, adding Woll would have to go The Ducks way taking on this much Cap.

Anaheim is in a good position having over 21 million in Cap, they can take advantage in this situation as well as improve there team and this proposal does that, Muzzin if he stays healthy is still a solid Defenceman, Simmonds an energy scrappy Vet on the 4th line or even depth makes Anaheim better, Woll in the proposal seals the deal.

Yes Anaheim isn’t looking to be great this year but they’re not gonna take on bad contracts terry zegras and drysdale are all up next year muzzin probably doesn’t move the needle for them.

ANA would take that deal if Muzz didn't have a NTC. Kilingberg got the Taylor Hall treatment. Sign for one year as a deadline trade. Can't do that with Muzz.

You fail to take into account Muzzin’s NTC.
He has to agree to any trade.
One of the reasons he chose to resign with the Leafs is that he and his wife are from Woodstock, On., so he and his family are home.
Uprooting his family to move back to California would be a big ask that I doubt he would agree to.
Next summer Muzzin’s NTC becomes a limited NMC allowing him to stipulate the teams he would or wouldn’t agree to be traded to.
At that time Leafs may try to move him as Bunting and Kampf will require new contracts and corresponding increases in salary.
Without moving Muzzin’s contract at that point Leafs stand to loose both players to free agency.

@WB if bunting and Kampf have another season like the last one, they're gone regardless.

The Ducks may do this. I don't think they are in rebuild mode, but more retool mode. Would Muzzin and Simmonds agree to go to Anaheim os the question.

As for Bunting and Kampf. If Bunting puts up another 20+ goal season and Kampf 15/ 15 type of season, Bunting will be in the $4.5-$5.5 range and Kampf looking at $2.5-$3M likely. They are as good as gone unless a much bigger contract than Muzzin goes.

Agreed!
Money talks.
I also see Bunting at $4.5 - $5 if he repeats last years performance.
Kampf had 11 goals, 15 assists, 26 points last year.
Even repeating that performance should net him $2.5 - $3
So an increase of $7 - $7.5.
Muzzin being traded next summer when his NTC becomes a limited NMC would clear $5.65.
A shortfall of $1.5 - $2.5.
No one is sure how much the salary cap will increase for the 2023 - 2024 but season but it is likely to be at least $1.5 - $2 so Leafs might luck out and break even on those two but still have to replace Muzzin in the lineup.
I don’t think Victor Mete is the answer.
