MTL picks up another solid young D for their rebuild. They should have lots of LTIR to use. Leafs pick up a hard working guy from the GTA to try on the wing with JT and Willy. Evans is solid defensively and has some offensive upside. Signed at $1.7M for 3 years is a bonus for the Leafs.

Where does Evans fit into the Leaf lineup as a right shooting winger?
Leafs already have Marner, Nylander and Jarnkrok filling those slots and NAK, Gaudette and Malgin are all right shots as well?

Seems like an overpayment for a 22 year old LHD who has proven himself a 3rd pairing NHL defenseman with 2nd pairing potential.

Nylander has played on the left before, or try Evans on his off wing. Evans would be the defensive conscience on that line and should put up 20 playing with JT and Willy.
