Dumba to Toronto for Holl, Niemeala & a 1st in 2023. With Minnisota eating half of Dumba contract.

Kane to Toronto for Robertson, Kerfoot, Hirvonen & a 1st rd pick in 2024 & 2025. With Chicago eating half of contract. With Chicago eating half of caphit.

As long as Muzzin is on LTIR these moves work.

Leafs playoff lineup

Nylander Tavares Kane
Knies Kampf Steeves
Aston-Reese Jarncrock Anderson

Idk why everyone is in such a hurry to trade niemela. He is by far our best defensive prospect, and just because he is playing over seas and we don't see him all that often, doesn't mean he should be traded. Everyone says knies and robertson are our untouchable up and comers, I argue it should be niemela.

I agree with you. Our depth on defense is rather thin. Especially considering Giordano's age and Muzzin's situation.

That defence is still not good enough….

Why you ask? 1967!

Not since Dougie was here playing against Gretzky in the Conference final, have the Leafs been this good. It could be decades if Matthews & or Marner move on. Arguably both in the top 10 leaguewide, both are worthy of MVP consideration. Time is now if this slips past it is one of the biggest sports blunders in modern history, there are ingredients missing Dumba would be a great addition. Liljegren really is that good though not Nedemeyer as he was compared to in junior, he could be a fantastic player & in my opinion has a way higher ceiling than Sandin. Liljegren also not small in stature, Dumba adds some toughness & Kane gives you something between a Marner or Machand with the latters championship pedigee. Something that Marner & Matthews could achieve with the right pieces in play. Kane would be a sensational pick up, bridging a
huge gap with Boston. By star players taking less on their deals, they have assembled a very deep lineup. Bergeron, Kreji, Marchand & Pasternak comparable to Toronto core 4. But they have so much more in Lindholm, Hall, Debrusk, Zacha, N. Foligno, Coyle, Greer. Boston has size, toughness & a much deeper supporting cast. A star F & D man in Toronto, with a healthy core 4 a fighting chance against Boston, Tampa, Florida, Carolina. The road to get to a Cup final no easy task. Leafs are lacking not the least of which is coaching, that will bear out sooner than later. A new coach & a couple or few significant upgrades is needed. Otherwise it could be another 20 years before the Leafs have a core 4 of equivalent talent to Matthews, Marner, Tavares & Nylander. As such no Cup aspirations for a while, golden opportunity squandered. Niemela then plays for a bummer Leaf time, once a free agent bolts for greener pastures.
