Leafs need one more stud upfront and a solid defencemen. The goalie situation isn't great but I will hold my breath and see where the goalies are near trade deadline

Chicago might want to help Kane get another cup. I'm sure Kane would love to play on a line with Matthews

Leafs first 2023 Knies Engvall. If it requires more then the leafs can add one on the finish prospects

Muzzin 5 million plus Engvall the Swedish wingers days are numbered and his cap space has much more value to the leafs than the player has

Available cap space when Engvall is traded 7 million it might be wise to hold onto Holl

Dubas has no job security past this season so he is going to be eager for a big run at the cup
Minimum the leafs have to make to to the final 4 for him to hold his job

One forward Kane the best defencemen you can get via trade. The leafs could move more cap space if they wanted Kerfoot.

Right now a forward a defencemen and you pray on one of the two goalies staying healthy the rest of the way. The kid in the backup role is ok for me.

Kane is 33 years old and will be 34 in one (1) week, (November 19th) .
Yes he is talented, but he will be a UFA at seasons end.
How many more productive years does he have left?
One or two before the decline sets in?
Major question to be considered.
For all of his offensive prowess, Kane is not known for his defense.
For the rest of this season (and maybe next if Leafs could resign him) he would be a joy to watch with Matthews and Marner.
But at what cost.
Giving away another 1st round pick and Leafs #1 prospect is a steep price to pay.
Leafs have only made two picks in the 1st round during Dubas’s five (5) year tenure as GM.
Another #1 for Kane would make it 2 in 6 years.
It would leave Leafs prospect pool virtually empty.
As much fun as it would be the price is too steep for my tastes.

In my opinion the leafs have made of better in the 2nd round then the teams they traded their first for when you have a player like Matthews and you look like a team that might be able to do something come playoff time you have to go all in every year.

That certainly is a strategy and consideration but Kane does not bring you a Cup, IMO.

I’m looking elsewhere.
