At The Draft.

Arizona Trades
Crouse
Schmaltz
Cooley (Big-10)
1st Round Pick 2023 (Sens Pick)

Toronto Trades
Matthews
NRobertson (AHL)(IR)

From July 1 on Matthews has a NMC in his contract so if they plan on trading Matthews it would have to be at The Draft, NRobertson has been injured but should be ready to go for The 23/24 Season, Arizona has wanted Matthews since he was Drafted and this is there best chance as signing him long term after next season, they wait until his possible UFA status I believe Toronto would sign him long term.

Leafs no matter how the upcoming playoffs go are at a position that if they use one of there Top 4 assets, they would be able to retool some and be better overall doing something like my proposal, Cooley would be playing with his College Winger in Knies, Schmaltz is no Matthews but a solid #2 Centre, and Crouse is the big Winger every Team wants and needs, add a higher Draft Pick in this proposal gives Toronto another good prospect for the future.

I'm all for trading matthews if things go horribly wrong in the playoffs . If I'm the GM I'm trading him for a Solid D man who can be th leafs true Number 1 or Number 2 . Next or in lieu of the defener I am looking for a #1 Goalie. In addition to either of those two things I want a Power Forward. 2 of 3 of those targets and a a couple mid draft picks you can have him

Nashville has a nice fit .

Saros and Josi
Or Saros and Forsberg
Or Frosberg and Josi.

I don't think any of these are realistic.

Mathews at the time of trade would (presumably) be coming off of a down year and another disappointing playoffs as a rental with a NMC.

Similar to the Kane trade, the window to trade Mathews has come and gone imo.

Matthews should not be traded unless a young center with #1 potential (Logan Cooley) is coming back in return!

@WB although I agree, I can't imagine anyone handing over a young, potential 1C for Mathews.
