So I have read all of your posts and they are all interesting concepts.

If Toronto does not get pass Tampa, Boston and Carolina to the cup finals or perhaps win it all I believe these changes could happen at the draft or during the summer.

Matthew's signs 7 years at $14 million a year.
If not at the draft Toronto trades Matthews to Arizona (The only team that can pay him what he wants)
For Crouse, Cooley 1st, 2nd, 3rd in 2023 all Arizona picks

Then Toronto trades Nylander to Philadelphia for Scott Laughton and Travis Konecny and a2nd in 2023

And finally Rielly to Vancouver for JT Miller.
Rielly is the problem in the dressing room for those whom were asking.
He always has an excuse for his terrible play and decisions and has never got over the fact that he was not named Captain.
He is the Cancer in the Room.

Again I don't see any world on which Arizona pays that much for Mathews.

He's a rental with a NMC in his last year. You aren't getting Coooley++++++ for him.

We're all dreaming of we rhinkt hats happening.

As much as many would think Arizona would do anything to bring Matthews home, is Arz really the right place for him in a trade? I don't see it. Leafs will want NHL players or ready prospects in return. Matthews will be 26 to start next season. Assuming they can resign him long term. By the time the picks/ prospects that Arz have left and yet to draft will be ready and team growth at a point to contend, he will be likely 30 at the least. Just doesn't seem like a fit to me.

Why trade Nylander?
He and Marner are the Leafs MVP’s this season.
Konecny misses blocks of time with injuries and Lawton is a 3rd line center.
Doesn’t seem like a very good idea to me!

You say Reilly is a cancer so why trade him for JT Miller, another locker room cancer?
Reilly has a full NTC but he might consider waiving it to return to his hometown of Vancouver.
Trade Reilly for Brock Boeser and then flip Boeser for assets.

waterbuffalo -- you think a one dimensional player is worthy of a MVP title. Nylander is exaclt that. He knows one thing offence. PERIOD. HArdly an MVP . No defensive ability No checking always coasting, Alwys the first to blow the zone you think its a coincidence he has as many break aways as he does. Look at the reverse. how many times does he cause his team to be on an odd man rush cuase ge guessed wrong. this guy is gonna command 10M to Thank GOd he wont get it here . THEY WILL TRADE HIM in the off season Good riddance.

@1stround everyone has the same gripes with wee Willy, but for what he's paid he does exactly what he's supposed too.

If he was in Selke conversations, fought, hit and scored at the same pace he does, he'd be getting Mcdavid money already.

Nylander may not be the outright MVP, but denying that he is not playing differently this year than past years just not true. I have been one of those who constantly said the talent is there, but his lack of compete and lack of willingness to do what it takes to win, drove me nuts. I would have traded him numerous times. I give credit where credit is due and Nylander plays a more engaged game this year.

Yes, he blows the zone earlier than anyone else on the team, but his choices of when to do so are better than in the past. He converts a pretty high percentage of breakaways into goals. It is also a style of play the Leafs use. Most forwards blow the zone normally and Leafs use the stretch pass alot. Way too many times this leaves the D-men with no short outlet pass if in trouble. It is a system, not just on Willy.

His willingness to drive to the net this season instead of stopping and pulling up is very noticeable. He will even take some hits to control the puck.

I am not saying he is a complete player by any means, but he is an asset to the team this year and I cannot say I thought that in the past. Like LL said, with his talent, if he did everything else, he wouldn't be making what he does. It would be a lot more.
