No. Absolutely not. I would rather trade Marner for practically any other player than Hamilton. He’s a pussy and a choker and a loser. A great big RHD version of Jake Gardiner. No GM should want Hamilton on their team. Every time I watch that video of OV doing the chicken dance to Hamilton I still laugh my ass off. That was in the playoffs and led to a goal. I believe it was an important game too. Game 5 or 6. But all playoff games are important.

If the Leafs absolutely can't sign marner and want to go this route and get Hamilton i'm fine with that. The guy can score from the back end. He may be a bit soft for a big guy but his reach causes so much havok for opposing forwards and he seems to never get caught out of position.

The 1st i definetly like and the 4th may not be needed

I just think Carolina needs to add a prospect or 2 and they probably still need to dump a contract

say one of Gauthier, Matthios, McKeown and i'd be Ok with this deal. choose a lower tier players contract and then this deal starts to take good shape.

Dougie Hamiltons adavanced stats tell me he really is a great puck possesion dman

last 2 seasons he has a 60 corsi and a 59.2 fenwick
last 2 seasons he also scores 18 goals each

160 hits+91 blocks+35 takeaways-66 giveaways=220 pretty damn good

I mean he may not destroy guys or even hit a lot but the dude definetly gets in the way of the play more often than not and drives the play pretty good. when he is on the ice his stats show his team does better with him on the ice with them.

You definetly have a right not to like him. Just wanted to paint you a differant picture.

Id personaaly love to have Pesce like most around here want. What you get him for is so debatable. I think it will take pesce plus to get marner but others think its pesce for marner plus. 1 for 1 works for me

Next you have justin faulk. My opinion is it would take a top end prospect and 1st with him to land carolina marner.

Hamilton as i said add a ok prospect to proposed deal and i'd do it.

Those are the options. With the hose options the leafs also need to take back around a 3 million contract so carolina can make it work.

Once marner is away from matthews he can't use the matthews contract as leverage. he'd have to use Aho as his comparable.

Have fun not being a leaf Marner. don't hit your arse on the door on the way out.

Canes cannot take Marner for peace unless a bunch of salary comes back. That's assuming their owner is willing to pay Marner ask which he not be now Aho gets his bonus money. The only teams I see taking Marner as is right now are; Detroit, Columbus, Ducks and a huge maybe EDM if they ship a bunch of salary back. I don't see anyone else wanting to pay him that much unless it's to rebuild around.

Jake Gardiner has excellent advanced stats and is a top 50 defenseman as well, and he isn’t welcome here either. I rely on stats a lot too. Everyone has too. But sometimes the old fashioned eye test is what is needed to really understand a player. And from what I’ve seen, just supports what I’ve been saying a along, Hamilton, in my opinion only, is not a guy I would like on the Leafs, despite the fact that he really is a very good defenseman. When it finally comes down to it, Hamilton reminds me of Jagr way back in the early days of Pittsburgh. His stats we’re really excellent too, even league leading. But Lemieux called him out for lack of intensity. He didn’t have heart. And that’s how I feel about Hamilton. Incredibly alerted, but doesn’t have the heart to dig deep down and do what it takes to win.

@Craigger yeah I agree there out of the whole D corps on Carolina Pesce would be my preference as well. His contract makes him a very attractive option on most teams. Although with that said, I really thought a bunch of defenceman would get a better deal so what do I know anymore. Maybe Reilly can take 8mil at this rate.
