Necas playing 3C ahead of Kerfoot is interesting. It might work. Or it may not be a bad idea to slowly introduce him into the nhl and put him on the wing beside Kerfoot, and give Necas some center time late in games already won, or for injury replacement, or even on 4th line here and there. Just to give him playing time at center and maybe help increase his overall minutes. I just think he’s a bit too green still to put him in such an important spot as center until he proves he can run a line. Even Nylander hasn’t done that yet.

I don't think Carolina even takes that call. Nylander and Lili for a top 4 D a solid winger and a great prospect. Also have to remember the season Nylander just had. His stock is super low right now.

Im not going to touch the nylander deal. i'm just going to say Carolina would only do this if nylander cracks a point a game in the 1st quarter of the season. If not the answer is no but if he does then leafs say no.

Arizona deal is a no go. Not because of the value but because Hossa contract counts against cap and he makes so much the leafs would be so over the cap. Pretty sure only 2 guys can be put on perminent LTIR at a time.

@craigger you can have 10 guys on LTIR there’s no cap on the amount you have.

19 Sep 2019 18:18:46
@LeafsHound

You inspired me to look that up and you are very correct. Dubas should go find another couple LTIR guys now haha.

19 Sep 2019 20:29:36
I think moving forward the leafs are going to have to use LTIR as a source to maneuver above the cap trying to pluck hidden gems for the cost of taking that contract because the leafs have the cash!

19 Sep 2019 21:53:28
Good call. A team can have as many guys on ltir as they want. i say get all the hese guys on the books as they all add value by paying for their contracts.

Why i thought there was a max number allowed per team i have no idea. sorry about that.

19 Sep 2019 22:16:09
@Craigger I thought so as well. Would make sense so big market teams can Hoover up every LTIR guy in the NHL.

20 Sep 2019 01:39:26
Well Dubas should make like a Dyson and start sucking up all those guys possible. Take a pick/ prospect as reward for taking those guys off the other teams books, and give us cap overage to nab a real stud or two at the deadline each year. This way we amass picks/ prospects, while at the same time building team strength.

20 Sep 2019 06:35:20
I have to think there is a reason teams haven't done this yet. Maybe a clause we don't know about or maybe ownership doesn't want to actually pay 10s of millions for cap savings.

20 Sep 2019 14:36:21
Most players insurance covers LTIR, so it doesn’t acrually come out of the teams . Since it doesn’t cost them anything to have them sit on LTIR, they don’t have incentive to include a pick/ prospect to get rid of the injured player. I assume too that a lot of teams are using the LTIR for themselves. Those teams that are playoff bound anyway. This gives them the cap space they need to pursue deadline acquisitions of their own. There just isn’t any reason for a rebuilding team to trade assets to dump a guy on LTIR. And the teams that are competitive will use their own LTIR guys to game the system. Just like we are suggesting Leafs do here. Lol.
