So @leafslife I like to notice things and what I've notice about you is you don't like the last few knuckle draggers in the league and I think you have valid points on why they should be gone out of the league. That said you need to watch more hockey. Wilson and Kassian for my examples can skate and play Defense and score. Are they perfect no will they make you pull out your hair once a season sure! But can they help intimidate yes and do they move up and down the line up yes and do Star players like playing with them yes. The leafs run and gun offence and no defence must be tiresome to defend to other leaf fans.
Here's the one thing Wilson has that Nylander don't a Stanley Cup.

So I can't remember who mentioned if the Wilson Trade is a go then cancel out the Jenner Trade so I listened for once and cut that trade out! Bammmm! Now onto the Dumba Trade! Now gents I've heard too much flip flopping between him not living up to certain standard to he's injury prone to he's top flight player and I think he's on Riley's level over the last year that I've been on this site!
I'm trading for him and unless Minny is in the playoffs it's going to be a fire sale! There's no way this trade isn't fair market value. Look at the Karlsson trade for example that said he do come wth term but for most of the complaints about injury pronability (I think just made up a word which is awesome!) which should make this trade doable.

I don't think we are under in this adjustment to the original trade. Demko would be a nice pick up for the leafs and that's all I have to say about that!

So as you can see I have no Dermot but I do have a stick whacker in Gudas! In heavy weight boxing leaning on your opponent is actually a plan. Make them carry your weight while you fight on the inside that said this is what the Gudas portion of the Washington Trade was. Good ol stick whacking Neanderthal that keeps the front of the net clear for Andersen can't see any reason to argue over that !

Willy's line has been dangerous every shift so far this season, and it hasn't just been big 34. Willy's playing better than ever and has both the basic and advanced stats to prove it. And the line has somebody who's extremely difficult to play against - Andreas Johnsson. While he doesn't intimidate physically, he's aggressive and tenacious and seems to win way more battles than he loses. His strength in front of the net has been especially impressive.

If it ain't broke don't fix it, and that line has been fantastic with all three players contributing in their own way.

But I do love the Dumba trade. I'd hate to lose Kappy mid-season, as it would leave a big hole on the third line and the PK, but Dumba would be awesome paired with Reilly.

But it's only 5 games into the season, everyone's still figuring this thing out, and some high quality reinforcememts are on the way for free! All Dermott and Hyman will cost is patience, so maybe they are the Leafs best bet?

@Marsbars I agree with your assessment that said I do really like our team but today we have high flying trapeze act when we need lion tamers at the circus!
I don’t want to give up too much speed but we need our balls to drop and become men for crying out loud.

I also agree that Kapanen back on the 3rd line RW will do better for him when hymn comes back, Dermot also for that matter. Also Mikheyev has been a pleasurable surprise maybe switch him out for Kapanen on the Tavares / Marner line

I don’t think Dumba is injury prone at all. He got hurt last year. And as far as I know, that’s the only real injury he’s had in his whole career. If you say Dumba is injury prone, then you have to say Matthews is injury prone too. It’s a pretty good package you assembled here. I got to think it’s somewhat close, though the cap dump of UFA Ceci as a replacement for Dumba might leave a bad taste in some Minnesota fans mouths. I still don’t think it’s enough. Ceci is a $4.5M cap dump pending UFA, and Liljegren and the pick contribute nothing to Minnesota. So Kapanen+ for Dumba isn’t going to happen unless Minnesota is out of he playoffs and want to completely yank and rebuild.

Minnesota deal i think is spot on. kapanen lijegren was a great start. Ceci as it may not seem like enough for dumba that's why kap, lil and that 2nd definetly helps with that problem and its not like they are stuck with ceci . if they don't want him they don't need to sign him. for once ceci will be in a defence first structure kind of team. might help him

the washington deal is a no go from me anyways. leafs suck on the penelty kill and this makes them penelty kill 1 maybe 2 more extra times a game. that hurts.

Not bad deals overall.

@LeafsGM i Went back and checked and you are correct about my injury prone comment. He’s played fairly consistent. Actually consistently enough that I changed course on that thought. I still think this is fair value! For Dumba but I wouldn’t think he would be on the table until they are out of the playoffs or in the off season!

I think your taking my comments on Wilson wrong. I'm actually a fan of his and of Kassian. I take issue with what they make. Wilson should not be paid 5+ and Kassian shouldn't be making 2+. I don't think Wilson is a knuckle dragger same way Kassian is but for Wilson to make that much his production just isn't there.

Lol yeah he does have a ring I'll give ya that.

In the above I actually think it's all pretty good. Other than Wilson for Nylander. The Dumba trade you probably need to add a bit as Dumba is a very good player.

@MarsBar made a few bets with some people I know before season starts that my boy Willie Nylander out scores Marner this year even on the second PP. It's still something I see happening as he looks really good. Very good assessment.

@LeafsGm the fear for me isn't that he is injury prone it's that sometimes all it takes is one major surgery and players end up injury prone afterwards. I would take Dumba anytime as the reward out weighs the risk for me though.

Love the trades. Adding Dumba, Guess on D gives us toughness and Wilson up front.

I've wanted Dumba for awhile now and he's Not injury prone.
