For a deadline move:

Tor: fleury

Car: ceci, 3rd

I don't think ceci is ever going to be a good fit on the leafs roster. With fleury, he only scored his first goal yesterday, but as a former top 10 pick, he might be a good fit on a different roster. Ceci leaves which gives the leafs cap room as well as a 3rd for compensation for Carolina taking cap.

I like it, don't think Carolina would accept it. May have to include a forward from 3rd or 4th line.

I don't know about anyone else but i don't mind Ceci. big, skates just doesn't hit. if he was a hitter he probably wouldn't be a skater.

If toronto played a shutdown system he wouldn't be so exposed. If you put any dman on the leafs they would look shaky defensively also. any D

Its not the player on the back end its the run and gun system up front. fun when it scores you 5 goals but sucks when it gets scored on 5 times.

Fleury can't skate so well so imagine how bad he will look in this system. If a player can't skate stay far away from them because they just won't work in this system.

I've never picked up fleury being slow. I also find ceci quite slow.

Oh come on. They both suck. Better than I ever could imagine being possible. But worse than their peers. Why does Waddell keep bringing in defensemen, despite having made it a priority to draggy heavy defense? It’s because he doesn’t trust any of the guys he’s drafted to develop into a true top line player. He had Hanifin, and let him go. He’s blowing Fleury and Bean’s development. Signed Gardiner for whatever perverse reason only he knows. If I was Fleury, or Bean, or basically anyone else on the defense, I would demand a trade. It’s not right what he’s doing.

I kinda think they are both fast. Though, to be honest, all these guys in the nhl are way faster than I’m used to seeing. Without doubt, and I’ve been watching hockey a long time, active participant in local events, live in the gta, and I can honestly say, this is the most skilled I’ve seen the league yet. Not since the big European expansion in the early ‘90’s when they brought in the lines of Bure, Mogilney, Federov, and yes, Sundin, have I seen the league emphasize skill so much more than size. This is a league wide effort to promote goal scoring, and Leafs are on the avante-garde side to this one.
