Leafs trade Marner
Rangers trade Kreider, Fox, Kravtsov, Shestyorkin

If not Fox, DeAngelo. I only went with Fox because he is younger and is still ELC while DeAngelo will need big pay raise soon. Kravtsov is a bit of risk but should turn out good. We can re-sign Kreider too while Kravtsov develops.

Kreider/ Matthews/ Nylander
Hyman/ Tavares/ Kravtsov
Johnsson/ Kerfoot/ Kapanen
Mikheyev/ Gauthier/ Engvall
*Aberg, Petan, Spezza, Timashov, Moore
(Marchment/ Brooks/ Bracco)
(/ SDA/ Robertson)

Reilly/ Fox
(Muzzin) / (Barrie)
Dermott/ (Holl)
*Marincin, Harpur, Gravel, Schmaltz
(Sandin/ Liljegren)
(/ Hollowell)
(/ Duszak)
(/ Rasanen)

Andersen
*Shestyorkin
**Kaskisuo
(Hutchinson)
(Will)
(Scott)

Hahahaha

Marner. really.
Ok buds .

19 Dec 2019 16:36:56
Yes Marner. Hahaha. It is a trade forum, get used to it. Does it really matter what player gets fake traded?

19 Dec 2019 17:03:48
Your lame response is a result of your lack of imagination. If you can put your love affair for Marner to the side for a few minutes and actually examined the trade you would see a lot of very good reasons for the Leafs to make this trade.

19 Dec 2019 17:34:27
There is not 1 reason I can think off to trade Marner. Does this make us a better team, No. end of story. Forum away.

19 Dec 2019 17:37:43
I would rather trade Matthews.
Matthews Nylander kerfoot and 2 1st

Edmonton
McDavid Nurse and 2nd

Now that allows Torontoto aquire Back up and Edmonton might be able to wiggle Jake Allen from St Loius.

19 Dec 2019 17:40:36
What's with the "Marner and Mathews can never be traded" attitude? Do I need to post every trade from history that people thought was an untouchable player who was subsequently traded? Lol. I can even name. multiple from 20+years ago the leafs did we never saw coming as fans "ahem" mats sundin was a leaf.

19 Dec 2019 17:44:16
It’s a fair trade. Leafs trade from a strength and get some players to fill in where they need most help. I don’t see how the Leafs manage the salary cap and there D without trading one of Mariner or Nylander.

19 Dec 2019 18:23:11
I don't think trading Nylander helps much. It's 3 11m dollar players that's hard. Losing a 7m dollar player doesn't help as much. I always said has to be Marner, Mathews or Tavares.

19 Dec 2019 18:47:57
Marner is more expendable than Matthews just because of the extraordinary depth at Wing we have. Sure, it would suck losing Marner, but it would suck even more losing Matthews. We don’t have the depth at centre anymore like we had when Kadri was still on the team. I don’t think anyone believes Kerfoot would be an adequate replacement for 2C if Matthews wasn’t on the team. Even kerfoot himself would agree to that I’m sure. Without Tavares as Captain, that leaves Marner as the $11M fall guy when the cap crunch hits again next summer.

19 Dec 2019 19:06:01
16 he gave you three reasons.

1 (krieder) gritty forward that gets 60pts.
2 (fox) RHD has 17 points in 33 games.
3 (Shestyorkin) AHL goalie 11 4 3 in 19 games with .926sv% and 2.14GAA

So that's 3 reasons and don't forget losing marners contract.

19 Dec 2019 20:05:55
For once redwing and I agree lol. That's a worthwhile return. The savings alone also mean you can sign a UFA or just resign soup man and Reilly.

19 Dec 2019 20:07:12
I like this trade. Love krieder and adding in Fox or DeAngelo then a solid prospect in kravstov and an even more good prospect in shestyorkin. this deal is great. saves money short and long term.

On the other side with panarin basically same type as player as marner getting paid even more than marner and with no center depth for them i see them going after matthews before marner.

Marner i'd do but matthews is a no unless a solid center is coming back. either way very solid suggestion.

19 Dec 2019 20:37:25
I agree, def a no go if it was Mathews instead of Marner.

19 Dec 2019 20:46:32
Leafs Life I will always be down the middle unless blues are involved.

With that said it's addresses 3 serious needs for leafs. Look at the blues how many 90pt players do they have.

19 Dec 2019 22:17:20
@redwing

Thanks for the backup. You forgot one more reason though: Kravtsov. He’s a real good prospect that should be an nhl player very soon and has top line potential.

19 Dec 2019 22:38:30
You point that out about the blues but they have won 1 more cup than the leafs in 50 years lol. Look at the bruins and how many 90pt players they have? I more see it as Boston and St. Louis negotiated better contracts for their players than Dubas did. If we traded rosters tonight with Boston Dubas would have Bergeron, Pasternak and Marchand all at 11+ and Boston would have Nylander Mathews and Marner all making 4m less than they do now.

St. Louis gets depth scoring because they can afford it. Both Boston and St. Louis have a solid blue line because they can afford it. Leafs can afford neither the way it is structured.

20 Dec 2019 01:04:26
So what happens to Tavares after losing his setup man? I'm not being smug, I'm genuinely concerned abou how this affects him. Also. How much is kreider looking for on his next contract?

20 Dec 2019 02:39:56
That's why you trade marner for those pieces.

20 Dec 2019 01:14:57
Leafs “studs’n’duds” strategy is the dumbest thing I’ve seen yet. Maybe if they win the cup I’ll be eating these words. But right now I don’t believe they can do it with the team they have currently. A more rounded team with depth in all positions is much better than a 2 line team with no defense and no support from the bottom lines. We’ve filled the team up with a bunch of guys that nobody else wanted basically. Just because they were cheap enough to come play fourth line for league minimum. Result: teams focus everything in the Matthews and Tavares lines and don’t need to worry much about the bottom six players. Likewise, as soon as Reilly is no longer on the ice, our defense is immediately a much worse pairing then when he is on the ice. So other teams ramp up the attack and go on the offensive when they know we have a weak team on the ice. Simply wait for either the third or fourth line to come out, hopefully Reilly is off the ice, and all sudden it’s like having an AHL team in a Leafs uniform. That’s just the way it is. After our top two forward lines and our top line defense, we have an AHL level team. And that’s why we won’t win a cup.

Redwing1: 3 reasons
Kreider- rental, gone after this year
Fox, rookie Offensive D, we need Defense 1st D
AHL Goalie, Ha, we seen this before.

In the end we get anoth Barrie for Marner, no thanks.

20 Dec 2019 11:33:10
Sorry 16 but truth is those 4 piec3s are better than marner. Who is vas8cally an over paid assist and secondary assist monster. Barrie sucks ceci sucks. Fox is better than both.

20 Dec 2019 14:12:16
@hurdemz

I posted the lineups. I put Kravtsov there beside Tavares. That would be optimal if he could make the jump to nhl straight away. He’s been playing KHL since he was 15, so he’s got a lot of practice playing against adults in a big stage. Of course, if Kravtsov isn’t ready, we can give Tavares Nylander and either Bracco or Kapanen or someone else can play beside Matthews. That’s if necessary. Kravtsov is one of the highest rated prospects not in the nhl. He will be a star, and if Rangers wouldn’t include him in this deal then it wouldn’t be worth it.

20 Dec 2019 18:25:20
Marner is a playmaker and a good one. Where redwing1 and I agree there is it is much harder to find a Norris winner or a goal scorer than a setup guy. I want everyone to remember. Marner+Tavares was poo. Hyman gets added and they are back in action. Marner plays with Mathews he is also poo. So who is really worth 11m? I shudder thinking about losing Hyman.

21 Dec 2019 00:08:36
@redwing

Marner primary assists = 13
Marner secondary assists =7

I don't post often, but I read a lot on this forum, and your are quite often full of babble.
