Leafs trade Kapanen, Hutchinson
Penguins trade Murray

Pretty straightforward. Pittsburgh has been decimated by injuries, particularly up front in forwards. So we give them back a player they liked enough to draft in the 1st round. In return we get a goalie that can run tandem with Andersen into the playoffs, giving Andersen the much needed rest he deserves for the playoffs. And if Andersen gets hurt or stinks in the playoffs we have a very capable goalie to use instead.

I’d rather target a dman if we are moving kapanen Toronto only has 2 more back to backs and our back up will only get another 7-8 games our problem is our two goalie face up to 35+ shots a game after a while they will tire out we need a good shutdown guy.

My issue with this is we lose him to Seattle more than likely.

Nah. Andersen’s contract expires next season. So we only have to protect Murray. We can then re-sign Andersen or roll with Murray and hope Woll is good for backup duties by then.

Okay I am now open to this deal, think we can get pittsburgh to add there worst D man to expose? Or do you think we resign ceci for a million as exposure.

I’m not sure who Leafs plan to expose. Right now we only have Reilly, Dermott, Holl signed for next year. If re-sign either Muzzin or Barrie then Holl is the fall guy. Otherwise we have to find a plug to sign to league minimum that meets the required games played and expose him. I’m liking Holl this year. When he was paired with Muzzin they were easily our best shut down pair. Would like to see some more of them playing together in the future if possible.

As I have said many times. Seattle will take whoever Dubas wants them to because he still has a 1st for that year and Dubas hates picking in the first round. Lol.

Dubas’ whole plan seems to be to trade down to accumulate picks so he can have a better shot at picking highly talented players in the later rounds that are flawed enough so that other teams have passed them over for whatever reason. That’s how we got SDA and Robertson and Hollowell. Whether this strategy works or not is still to be determined. So far, he’s made some very good selections though. On paper at least.
