Why? Why is sergachev needed? And why give up MORE picks to offer sheet someone?

What numbers and picks are they getting signed for?

New trade. Trade MNM, Reilly and Tavares for better players.

Why because Sergachev is good lol.

You didn't answer why give up more picks? The aav on offer sheets is broken down by 5 years unless it is less than a 5 year term. Under your scenario his total value is 30m divided by 5 years for compensation purposes. Your offering a first and a third which they will match unless you go to the next tier. It honestly just isn't a well thought out prop lol.

I don’t think they can afford it and if they do it would but them right up against the cap low risk high reward that 1st and 3rd are guys we can draft but may never turn out where Sergachev is young and proven and plus the leafs have been able to steal guys in the second round last two years.

I've never seen Sergachev play RHD. Not that I watch a lot of lightning games though, so I can't be sure if he ever has or not. What I do know is that he has never played top line before. So asking him to play 1RHD is a bit of a question mark on whether it would work out or not. Even Muzzin couldn't make the switch.

Is Sergachev any better than either Sandin or even Dermott? That's hard to say. And even if he was better than those two, he definitely isn't any better than Muzzin or Reilly. So that means he would be playing 3LHD. In which case, I don't see the point, even if you do move Dermott in a trade after.

Harmonic doesn't bring anything more than what we already have with Holl. I noticed you haven't mentioned Holl anywhere. Did you forget about him? Lol.

I would rather just stick with the cheapest options right now until we see some dollar signs attached to these guys names. And I'm pretty sure Dermott will cost less than Sergachev and Holl will cost less than Hamonic.

It's a question of what we can afford. There is absolutely nothing wrong with either guy, and I'd like both of them on the team if we had the room and the money. But we don't have either. And I don't see the point in making trades just for the sake of making a trade.

I would be willing to give up more picks in a "win-now" style trade. But this is not that type of trade. Sergachev is good, but not elite 1RHD. If it was a true 1RHD, and we had to throw picks in somewhere to make it happen, Leafs should absolutely do it. We are at a point where we need to start considering going all-in. Columbus did last year, and they had a worse team than Leafs do this year, and guess what? Columbus swept the best regular season team possibly of all time. Maybe if Leafs were to go all-in they could finally beat Boston?

Not going to lie I totally was convinced that he played the right side lol I’m not saying Sergachev is elite but he can play the game at a high level and is only 21 years old there are a lot of rfas out there ripe for the pickins as for Dermott the reason why I think the leafs should move him is because I don’t think you’re going to see much more in terms of improvement this is his third year in the nhl and I haven’t seen much improvement to his game other than he’s more physical.

11 Mar 2020 10:32:15
Dermott has only ever played bottom pair in his three years until now. How can you say he won't improve? He is still growing with every passing year from what I see.

11 Mar 2020 13:08:48
Because if he did he would be passing a older guy like Muzzin which he clearly has not even the last bit without both Reilly and Muzzin I don’t think he was that good.

11 Mar 2020 16:16:35
Dermott has been the best D since Reilly and Muzzin went down. I can't say enough good things about how much he has stepped up recently. I am even reading articles about the emergence of Dermott as a player. He has just never had a chance because Muzzin better defensively and Reilly is our 1D.

Dermott may well be traded but the team he goes to will play him more and give him more of a chance. He will flourish somewhere else or if he can play right side.

11 Mar 2020 17:31:56
I actually though Dermott was playing Amazing lately as well, running the top line. He's really stepped up playing 20+ minutes at 1LHD. Leafs didn't lose in California because of poor defense. They lost because of lack of offense.
