Reilly for Eckblad + 1st. In this deal I would trade Marner for Huberdeau.

Reilly + Marner for Ekblad + Huberdeau + 2nd

Anderson than can be extended eventually.

Johnsson + Dermott for Theodore.

Robertson plays 3rd Line LW with Kerfoot and Mikheyev
Clifford signed 4th Line LW

Theodore Ekblad
Muzzin Holl
Sandin Liljegren

I really can't believe how some of these posters overvalue the worth of the Leafs bottom of the lineup players and unheard of Marlies players who aren't good enough to play in the NHL. Reilly and Marner for Ekblad and Huberdeau seems fair while Johnson and Dermott for Theodore is very bad for any team not named the Leafs.

Dear Ij,

So if you think the trade for Theodore is undervalued. Than add a high draft pick.
Johnsson + Dermott + 2nd Round pick. So when you state is a bad trade, what would considered a more balance trade. To me Johnsson + Dermott for Ristolainen is a reasonable trade as an alternative
Dermott + for Sanheim of Philadelphia is a fair trade.

I have very high hopes for Dermott. I know I'm alone in my man crush there lol but I still believe he can be a 1LHD one day. He performed extremely well in Reilly and Muzzin's absence.

FLA probably wouldn't do this. They get the best players but Reilly is a rental+ and Marner gives them major cap issues.

Island Jet.

Johnsson + Dermott for Theodore is a lousy trade. Would Toronto adding a high draft pick, make it a fairer deal?
Just saying is a lousy deal, and denigrating an opinion is basically trolling.

It's almost as bad as the way Jets fans value their players.

Leafs-Panthers will never make a trade unless it's fringe players and bottom feeders. I'd rather have Reilly over Ekblad, but I would take Huberdeau and that sweet contract of his over Marner and his bloated contract. Leafs would have to retain salary for this deal to happen.

The other deal isn't nearly as bad as certain Jets fans night think. Theodore is a good goalie, but he ain't too 10 in the league or anything. If you replaced Johnsson with Kapanen or (especially) Hyman, this deal would probably get a lot more consideration. As is, you get their attention, but probably not enough. Johnsson was riddled with injury last year, and it really reflected in his stats. I always say Leafs should never trade for damaged goods, no matter how good the player might have been before injury (Dumba's cough, cough) . I wouldn't expect any other gm to take our damaged goods either.

Taking on previously injured players is something I would 100% do in the right circumstances. Kawhi came back from possible career ending surgery. Brees did the same. Many athletes across all sports have done it and made their teams better in the process. Just has to be the right peice.

Good point LeafsLife. Kahwi sure did a fine job. Too bad Tavares couldn't win us the cup his first year here too. Wouldn't that have been something. Lol.

The good thing about taking on injured players is that they are going to be cheap to acquire. The bad thing about taking on injured players is that they are damaged goods. The odds of regression is high after a player gets hurt. If you have faith in a players ability to turn it on again after being hurt and can get him for dirt cheap, then go for it. Like you said, if the price is right, why not?
