What is with the hate for Nylander still? I don't get this for the life of me. 31 goals 58 points in 68 games isn't a bad stat line by any stretch. If he hit a hot streak he may have been close to 40 goals or at least 35-75. It's not like Marner hits anyone either 99% of the time. Neither does Barrie or Reilly or Johnson.

For reference if anyone is interested; Nylander is actually the best forward in his own zone according to most metrics as well.

57.7% possession rating is 8th best league wide and best on the team. He is also allowing the third least shots on the team/ 60 behind only Kapanen and Tavares. Nylander is also producing 2.02 pts/ 60 which is DOUBLE that of Marner and almost triple Tavares.

Nylander is following suit with guys like Gardiner and Kaberle. He will always be hated in this city for every minor mistake he makes. This is the issue with Toronto media and fans alike. You are given an elite 5v5 forward that is given less opportunity than his counterpart in Marner and excelling in the role.

If anyone is interested, in almost all play driving metrics Marner isn't even top 50. He is a playmaker like Panarin and may yet reach that level but does not drive plays the same way. And to your point of ballerina he has 9 hits yes, Marner has 24. Only ones really stepping up physically in a more significant way lately are Dermott, Kappy and Mathews.

Dubas did over pay Nylander, Marner and Mathews as they have done bugger all since they all got paid.
The reality of it is, fans want to see Marner play more than Nylander. Marner and Nylander both have no trade clauses so yes One will surely go! When that's up to Dumbass.

Size doesn’t make up the difference in talent Myers is the only good player coming back and we are sending a top six player and a top d prospect I wouldn’t do this if I was Toronto.

I get a kick out of the irony if LeafsLife defending Nylander but still calling Barrie garbage. Lol. Everyone has their ideas about who they like and why. Barrie and Nylander have the same Knicks against them - privileged rich kids that grew up with a dad heavily involved in the NHL so had a silver spoon to get in to the NHL. All offense and no defense, they only care about the name on the back and their hair. Both overpaid for what they do.

Hate then for who they are, not what they do. Lol. Or you can hate them for both. There's good reason to hate them for what they do too. Lazy, no guts, no glory, selfish all about me players who won't stand up or defend for the team. I would hate to have these guys in a war beside me.

Dubas doesn’t care (or shouldn’t anyway) what the fans think. If your trading Nylander, you should get a legit 1Rd, this package bacically gives Nylander away.

Why dehaas? He's 25 years old and has shown no clear indication he will ever play NHL in any meaningful capacity.

If you are looking for a throw-in, even a 7th is probably better at this point.

I know it sounds kind of ass backwards hating on Barrie from the minute the trade was done while defending Nylander lol. Reason is; I don't think Nylander get enough credit for what he does. As fans we always single out one high end player and just trash them. When Gardiner left it became Nylander. It really isn't a fair estimation of talent or contribution it's just our 50 years of frustration.

Also, if Barrie would resign at his current cap hit I would be happy to have him. You won't find better for under 3/ yr like I don't think you find better than Nylander for his cap hit.

Once you take into consideration the cap, it's increasingly obvious why Barrie ain't coming back.
