I love Lafreniere, but you would have to be crazy to give up that much.

It would be a difficult acquisition the pitch is a bird in the hand, Marner is currently a star player LaFreniere is only touted as such.

It would have to be an exceptional offe and not comparing LaFreniere to Lindros, but think of tbe kings ransom Philly paid to acquire the Libdros pick. That was also a forced situation so no extra leverage in a trade, Lindros was not going to Quebec and everyone knew that.

LaFrenier, Matthews, Kane, Tavares, Nylander and Debrincat as your top 6 hard to top that. Kane still a 100 pt man and he and Toews add leadership, they know what it takes to win. The PP would be the best league wide, and D would also be improved.

I don't think Detroit would trade their chance at getting LaFreniere and Chicago wouldn't make that trade. Quantity doesn't equal quality and other than Marner the Leafs are trading supporting cast players and distant draft picks for top line players.

Islandjet Hyman is with a lot now as he was on pace for over 30 goals this year and is a proven 20 goal scorer. The first round pick is also something. Just because Bracco is in the trade doesn’t mean the trade is awful lol.

The second trade is way off though Chicago won’t take that even if they could get rid of Seabrooks contract. Teams don’t just trade their two best players for mostly bottom of the lineup guys and draft picks.

Are you kidding islandjet? Marner alone for Lafreniere is all I can see Toronto doing. And when you add a 25 (would have been over 30 likely if not for this corona crap) goal scorer in Hyman and 2 high picks (and don't forget about "worthless" Bracco, who is much better at hockey than you), all for a guy who has never played in the nhl, the leafs pass. I realize Lafreniere's potential is very high, and he has a good chance of being better than Marner, the trade doesn't make much sense for either team.

Farmboy I'm not trying to be anti leaf but a realist in writing that unfortunately it's a continuous cycle of over hyping, overvaluing and overpaying the Leafs players, management and assets that has contributed to the Leafs being cupless in 53 years. Lafreniere could be the next McD or Crosby so why would the Wings make this trade for players that have yet to win a playoff round?

16 May 2020 18:03:20
Hyman was on pace for 30 in a shortened season as well.

I wouldn't give up any of MNM for Laffy. Get to many first overall picks that don't work out. How you think Philly felt about that Lindros trade?

17 May 2020 00:18:40
Leafslife, even consider on top of that, in the lindros trade the Flyers didn’t even give up nearly as good of an established player as marner. A couple middle to top 6 players, their top prospect in forsberg, hextall who really hadn’t been very good to that point, another nothing prospect and a first. Had they known how good forsberg would be they most definitely wouldn’t have made that trade. Him and lindros alone can almost cancel each other out.
