No chance Tampa trades Stamkos for Nylander and Bracco who is worth very little to a team like TB. Make the trade Matthews for Stammer straight up if the Leafs retain $2 mil would be closer. Stop over valuing the worth of the Leaf players as teams aren't lining up to trade for players that haven't even won a playoff series since 2004.

Okay there islandjet, stop it with the stupid offers lol. Is Tampa going to take that trade probably not because they are in the same division and also competing to win right now. If they were building then I think they probably would take that deal. As for your suggestion of sending Matthews and retaining money, that has to be up for the award for dumbest comment on the internet. You don't get the better player, the younger player, and money retained lol. If Tampa is asking for Matthews for Stamkos, they are adding something pretty significant to sweeten the deal for the leafs to even answer the phone.

Islandjet, I agree Nylander (and Bracco, but according to you he is worth absolutely nothing) for Stamkos is unfair. Even though Stamkos is kind of old, He is a much better player than Willie. I think Stamkos is staying in TB. But Matthews for Stammer? That would be one of the worst trades of all time, even if we get Cap space. You think we overvalue leaf players? Well, you undervalue them. Stop trying to think you and the jets are so much better than everyone else.

Thinking outside the box. I like it. Going after Stamkos is a tall order. The Captain and face of the franchise. Is Stamkos what Matthews will turn I to in a decade? Maybe. If Matthews is still as productive as Stamkos at that age, it would be nice. But only if he is still on the team.

No way Leafs trade Matthews except in the case where there is a significant overpay. That likely would never materialized until the final year of his contract though, as prices at this stage in his career would be way to high for any team to trade for him. Nobody is going to do a 1-for-1 swap of superstars, and nobody is going to trade half their team away for him.

So, looks like Leafs are stuck with their 50+ goal scorer for at least a few more years.
