Take out Neal and toronto does this. Of course, then Edmonton doesn't. Maybe Have a three way trade and send Neal elsewhere? He is the last thing toronto needs.

Downgrade at forward to upgrade defense. Trading from strength to address weakness is always the smartest way to patch holes in a roster if that option is available. Not sure how much cap space we save, but it looks like we do come out a little better off that way.

I think Edmonton would have to seriously consider this offer. I just don't know if they would be willing to downgrade their defense right now. Last I heard, that was a weak point for then still too.

Farm boy it would also depend on if the NHL would allow compliance buyouts and if the Oilers have enough money to buy out Neal if that’s the case.

Is Neal's contract really all that bad though? He was on pace for his career averages this year. He is a 20-15 goal scorer. He might be a little iverpaid, but not terribly so.
