Leafs have about 12 million coming off the book in FA.

Resign Mikheyev 3x3
Resign Dermott 2x2
Sign Byfuglien 2x1

Leafs: Johnsson
Oilers: Puljujarvi

Frees up about 2.5 million

Hyman-Matthews-Marner
Robertson-Tavares-Nylander
Mikheyev-Kerfoot-Kapanen
Borobanov-Engvall-Korshkov

Rielly-Byfuglien
Muzzin-Dermott
Sandin-Holl

I would sign Dermott to a 7 or 8 yr deal if I was Dubas. He showed how well he can play this season with Muzzin and Reilly gone. Now is the time to give him a 4/ 8 or 5/ 8 kind of deal. If he plays better he wants more.

Mikheyev is a good signing imo. Better than Johnson by far.

Buff I don't see coming here.

You forgot Puljujarvi. Lol. He's a RW and Leafs are very strong RW. Unless you are going to give him Kapanens spot, I don't think he will come here and play only 4th line minutes or in the AHL. He would be wanting at least middle six. I would welcome a downgrade from Kapanen to Puljujarvi if we were able to get a quality RHD in return. And maybe instead of signing Byfuglien it might be more reasonable to look at a trade involving Kapanen who could be replaced by either Puljujarvi or Barabonov.

Wow overpaying mikayev we don’t even know how god he is he played half a season.

Compared to turn over machine Johnson I would overpay Mikheyev in a second.

Buff won't sign for 2 years at $1 mil per. He doesn't need the money tht badly.

It's not always about the money IslandJet. I think you are right that Buff won't ever play again. But if he did want to play, he would gladly take league minimum to play for a contender. Just look at all the guys who have done it. Jagr, Kovalchuk, for example. Left millions on the table both, at different points in their life, Kovalchuk twice.

If it was only about the money, we wouldn't have Spezza on the team right now.

The problem for Mikheyev is that besides getting hurt, he was inconsistent. He came out of the gates like a bull at the rodeo, but then disappeared for a good stretch of almost half his games.

In the limited amount we got to see him, he looked good. Do I think he is a player capable of consistently playing at a 20g/ 40pts pace for the next three years. Questionable. Assuming he gets a cushy spot beside Matthews or Tavares, he should be good for close to that. I would probably be close to that. But if he is working with Kerfoot and Barabanov I wouldn't expect that.

Why not just offer him another one year extension? Another "show me" contract. If another team really values him more, we can't outbid them anyway.
