So here is a fun and Wild coupls of trades that i know would not happen but how fun is it to try....i think the basis is there might need tweeking

Leafs Trade:Rielly & Dermott

Ducks Trade:Theodore

Leafs get a good D in Theodore signed long term @ 5.2 mil so just slighty what Rielly is getting and who we may not be able to sign...Ducks do it because they can sign Rielly with the cap and get Dermott as second pairing D which they appear to be short on.

This one won't be popular from the point of view of what Leafs get but needs to happen for cap reasond from the Isles point of view.

Leafs Trade:Marner plus possibly more( used a 1st ans 2nd round pick, help me out with your thoughts)

Iles Trade:Pullock,Bailey,Boychuck

Leafs get a solid RD to pair with Theodore who we sign for $6mil(roughly),we also get Bailey who is not popular but he reunites with Tavares who he had success with...then Boychuck (is here for cap issues for Isles,he plays RD for our second pair)...Ilses do it to shed Boychuck and Bailey salary as they will have Barzal to sign who will want 8-10mil in my opinion)...lines look like this:

Robertson....Matthews...Nylander
Hyman...Tavares...Bailey
Mikheyev....Engvall...Kapanen
Clifford..SPezza...Barabanov

Theodore...Pullock
Muzzin...Boychuck
Sandin...Liljegren

scratches leaving us a 22 man roster are Lehtonen(can sub with Sandin) and Brooks

Holl...Johnsson and Kerfoot were traded anywhere for picks or prospects or to use to pick up another 3C if you are not comfortable with Engvall/Brooks subbing...with all 22 players i still have 1.1mil in cap for that 3C and we have a better balanced D

Baiey means reduced cap from Marner to put elsewhere, downside for Boychuck is he is not good but only signed 2 more years....maybe after next year we trade him or buy him ut and get more cap space for others

Let Me Have It...lol

The first one I just don't see the ducks doing. I get where your coming from on Reilly and I agree in most ways. The ducks though, need to go into some kind of rebuild. I don't think they would take Reilly.

Second trade I actually just don't want 2/ 3rds of the players coming back lol.

Shea Theodore is on the Knights not the ducks, so that one is out the window and the second trade, wouldn’t give up marner for a 2nd pair d man, 5-8 slot forward and a cap dump.

The Leafs shouldn't trade Marner who plays hard every shift. If they feel the need to dump salary they should try and trade soft, one trick pony Matthews as he plays with 1/ 10th the heart of Marner and will jump ship in 4 years.

Marner was picking up on some lazy habits this year. Agreed he does show more heart but he isn't even close to Mathews level. Before this year I always agreed AM was a one trick pony. He really shined this year though. Splitting up Nylander and Mathews seems to be key. Not sure what it is about the two of them but whenever one guy has an off night the other follows suit.

I would trade wee Willy before Tavares Matthews or Marner
Loads of talent but one lazy bugger on the back check
He would fetch a nice rhd of some substance and under contract

To njd for severson

Or go for a prospect
to avs for
Byram jost
Or to nyi for Dobson and bellows.

Would rather lose Marner as that 11m would get a RHD and free up space for resigning others. The 7 Nylander frees up isn't so big.

Theodore can play right side, so a Reilly for Theodore trade I'm all for. I wouldn't give them Dermott too though because it would weaken LHD a lot. Instead maybe try a pick or prospect or a forward they might be able to use. Heck, they might even be interested in Will for backup.

Choosing between Matthews and Marner is a tough choice, but I got to stick with Matthews. If we traded Marner and freed up his cap space, we can use that to sign Matthews to any deal he wants pretty much.

I know 2 3rds or the Isles deal might not look good. but when I make a trade for Leafs I always make sure it works for both team. cap included. do I want Boychuck. no but for cap purposes I had to free that cap space up from Isles assuming they could not get rid of him themselves once Boychuck is done it will then free cap space previously spent on Marner for players like Sandin or Liljegren or even a goalie. As for the core 4 I don't see Leafs picking Marner over Matthews and I don't see the Leafs keeping Marner over Nylander because of cap number. they are similar in style of play but cause Nylander is signed for less he would be kept to free up more cap. and finally I included Dermott with Rielly as having to pay more to get a good defensement making the kind of money Rielly is for another 4 or 5 years. and Knights having to sign Rielly to an 8mil contract. I think our left side would be fine with Muzzin, theodore and Sundain/ Lehtonen.

Sandin and Lehtonen are both rookies. It's a pretty big risk

Personally I think Reilly is the better player. But the term makes a big difference in value. So I see the need for an add-in. I just don't know if either a) we should trade two LHD and b) do they even need two LHD coming back? They have a pretty strong LHD already with guys like Schmidt and McNabb, and with guys like Hague ready, they might not even want Dermott.

Hockeyluvr. Rielly probly is the better player but we might not be able to resign him. Theodore makes 200k more and could replace him. Pullock can play right. based on cap friendly when I did the trade from their side they seemed to need LD. we would have extra with Muzzin. Theodore. Lehtonen and Sandin on LD.

Oh. Ok. I actually thought you were making the trade to put Theodore RHD. I didn't even think of using him LHD.
