Leafs trade Reilly
Rangers trade Georgiev, Fox

Rangers LHD is super weak. They could use a guy like Reilly. They don't have anyone good top 4 LHD and will likely switch either Fox or DeAngelo to their off side next year. This gives them a much better option.

As for Leafs, if Andersen flops in the playoffs, we need to try someone else. We can run a tandem of Campbell and Georgiev during the regular season, and ride the hot goalie in the playoffs, like what seems to be the trend in the league. We also get Fox, who is a blossoming young RHD.

Hard for me to blame Anderson solely for the playoff possess as of late. He faces a goaltender that has far more rest and a much sounder team in front of him. If a game ends up 2-1 in Boston favor I don't blame Freddy. The team is built to score. If Dubas vision of a team doesn't score at least 3 a night it's a loss. Especially the way Keefe wants them to play.

That said if you can get a good return for Freddy I make this trade. So hard to predict goaltenders as they age. Bob being the best example.

I agree Randy. It is hard to blame just him when the team in front isn't playing well either. But he definitely hasn't stolen a series for us either. At 30 years old and three game 7's in a row he isn't a clutch goalie.

I can't say game 7s though. Game 6 was easily winnable last playoffs. Everyone around him just didn't show up. It seems like a lot of people like to blame Freddy but if you continue to make your goalie play 65 games/ yr while having zero defence then same thing in the playoffs at a certain point I just can't say it's Freddy's fault.

This is the issue I see with any goaltender in Toronto. The whole team seems to just take entire nights off.

Guys we have campbell now, we don’t really need Georgiev. If we trade Reilly for Fox+ then we could trade Anderson and sign Lehner with the extra cap space. I know more then a few teams who would love to have a starting goalie at this point regardless of term.

My point is we could get more assets if the Rangers added on a different price the Georgiev and we signed Lehner.

Lehner isn't any younger or going to be any cheaper than Andersen. If anything, he will be more. He's made it clear that his next contract he is wanting to take the most money and longest term he can. He just did two 1-year show-me deals. He has. Nothing left to prove, and I don't blame him for holding strong for a much better deal this time.
