Leafs trade Marner
Detroit trades Hronek, Zadina, Rasmussen

Detroit can easily afford this deal. It's a cap dump style trade, obviously. Hronek is the RHD we need and would be a very good fit beside Rielly. Zadina has the potential to be almost as good as Marner. And Rasmussen is a wild card. Lots of size and good potential. I had high hopes for him when he was drafted. Svechnikov too. He could still be a good player for us. Love the size both those kids.

You know what that’s not a terrible trade in terms of value. Hronek could immediately step in beside Muzzin on the second pair and he could probably play with Reilly in a couple years.

Zadina may be able to replace at least some of Marners scoring ability and Rasummusen could be the next Kapanen if the leafs desire to trade him as well.

The only thing is trade like this rarely happen between divisional rivals and I’m not sure Yzerman will want to give up 3 young players he needs for his rebuild.

Marners contract might scare off Detroit or any team from trading so many young players. Big contracts will be hard to move in this cap uncertain NHL.

Detroit can afford it. Marner instantly and significantly improves their team. Marner beside Larkin would be golden. Other than Hronek, they lose nothing off the current roster.

The real question for me is that Detroit still feels they need defense. So if that's the case, we might not be able to get Hronek unless Seider is ready.

Id be hesitant with dealing Marner. The deal itself is fine but Marner may end haunting the leafs for years to come.

Marner alone won't make the wings relevant. They have another few years. Of all teams in the division that's the team I would send Marner too.

Why Nylander before Marner? I kinda think Marner is the better player too, but not by much. And he costs way more. Detroit is one of the few teams that could absorb his salary.
