Reilly still has two years left on his contract, can’t extend him until next summer.

We don’t really need Roslovic, Kapanen is the much better player and I’d rather just put Dermott in the LA trade then Kapanen. That seems a little more fair to me.

My point was a lot of things could change in that time frame, it’s one thing to guess what’s going to happen in a couple months or even a year, but two years down the road is a little far that’s all.

It is hard to tell 2 years away but, 50% of any GM's job is using his crystal ball. Draft picks, prospect trades, long term deals (looking at you Draisaitl), etc.

Gotta take chances sometimes.

DeMelo beside Rielly seems like a disaster waiting to happen. DeNelo is not a top line RHD. Simple as that. He is a very good 3RHD on most teams, and a decent 2RHD on some teams, but he does not deserve to be anywhere near a 1RHD position on a cup contender.
