I think you are a little light in what you are offering, but I like the players you are targeting.

To be honest though, I don't think the team is really all that much better after all is said and done. Severson upgrades RHD, but LaBanc is no upgrade over Kapanen, and Zacha is no upgrade over Kerfoot.

It does look like you save cap space though, and that alone might make it worthwhile to make the extra moves.

6'3 212 pound center who gets 30 points a year along with an upgrade at rhd for a spoedy 40 point RW a good LHD and a plug in 4th liner seems pretty good to me.

Dermott is goid and would be top 4 LHD in jersey but on leafs he is unfortunetly behind 2 better LHD. Severson becomes the leafs best RHD option.

Maybe its just me but i love big centers

The sanjose deal is only needed to shed cap. On talent alone i'd prefer keeping 2 30-40 point forwards over 1 30-40 point getter and an unknown. but hey shedding cap is always fun. Unfortunetly sanjose needs to do same so i can't see them adding 5 million to their cap

Overall well houghtout deals.

Any deal with San Jose has to be cap in cap out. Doesn't work otherwise.

I'm not sold on severson. If that deal happened I wouldn't feel one way or the other about it though. All in all decent props.

True, I wasn’t really thinking about their cap situation lol. I guess there are a few other guys we could target or maybe just trade Kerfoot and Johnsson for picks and sign someone in FA.

I guess the value is there. So hard to gauge value sometimes. It's so subjective. I guess to me, the difference in defenseman Severson - Dermott is greater than the difference in forwards (Kapanen + Engval) > Zacha.

So if (Severson-Dermott) = (Kapanen+Engvall) -Zacha then it is a fair trade. In my mind, I was probably overvaluing Severson and undeevaluing Engvall, and possibly Dermott too.

I still don't think the team looks much better. We upgrade RHD, but lose a good LW to do so. And we gain a small amount of cap space, but have a high turnover.

So, for instance, the SJ trade. Instead of making the exchange of RW players, why not just do Johnsson for a 3rd? It would be for the same reason you stated, to cut cap, but would be a lot simpler. Unless you honestly believe LaBanc is that much better than Kapanen. Which I'm not convinced he is.

No I don’t really think Labanc is better then Kapanen it’s just like we need to put someone there, and I’m just not sure if Barbanov is ready that’s all.

Barabanov and Lehtonen are two big question marks heading into this season. I really want to believe that they are going to be as good as they have been hyped. And yet, I just have that same sinking feeling that we are looking at Zaitsev 2.0 in Lehtonen, and Barabanov will be more like Alex Nylander than Willie. In other words, not very good.
