Leafs trade Nylander
Nashville trades Fabbri, Arvidsson

Gotta think k Fabbri would be a good fit beside Rielly and Arvidsson would go a long way toward replacing Nylanders production.

Agree0 Disagree1

Ooohh you mean Fabbro. I was kind of confused there. Lol. I guess it’s possible. Really would be taking a risk on Arvidsson though.

Nashville is a defenceman factory. Problem is their forwards just never pan out. They always, at first, seem to make the right choice after dealing for a forward then sign that forward long term. It just never works out after that forward signs long term. Even forwards they develop who have career years then get signed long term and then flank out.

At least with this deal they don't need to sign nylander themselves so he might just be who they are looking for. He is 3 years younger than arvidsson and putting up his offence he did when he was 24-26 years of age. Once arvidsson hit 27 he hit the poop bucket. At least nashville gets nylander entering his prime.

Defencemen seem to be nashvilles go to when dealing for a forward (jones, girard)
So why not here. Fabbro is the next to go if nashville wants to improve offence. With 14 plus million coming off books in grundland and smith and arvidsson, nylanders contract is more than accomidable.

I think this is a great deal. Even if arvidsson never again hits 30 goals he is a solid 3rd line forward on this leafs team. Fabbro is definetly a future top 4 dman but for now i'm happy seeing what him and dermott can do together in a sheltered role. 3 years from now that's when ill get excited for fabbro

Well done.

I couldn't remember if it was Fabbri or Fabbro. I always get those two mixed up, and I wasn't taking the time to look it up. This was just a throw out off the top of my head to make chatter.

Fabbro was playing top 4 for Nashville this year, and they traded Subban to accomodate him. And Arvidsson is being misused in Nashville. He got very little playing time. In fact, none of Nashville's big names recieved what I would say is enough playing time. Both coaches seem to prefer to give the 3rd and 4th lines almost as much ice time as the top two lines. I don't think Arvidsson would be third line at all. He would be able to slide into our top six, and move one of Mikheyev or Hyman to the right side. Arvidsson and Robertson would give us two snipers on the LW and is a better pair than any two of Hyman/ Mikheyev/ Johnsson.

Arvidsson is also a lot cheaper than Nylander.

I've never really felt like they've made the right choices in the forwards they've pursued though. All of Johansson, Duchene, Turris or Granlund are what I would call elite. Duchene, like Hall, is way overrated. Nylander would probably be the best player on the team. Only thing is, his numbers would drop too, as he would probably not get as much ice time there (none of them do), and Nashville plays a defensive system that stifles the forwards productivity.

Hall is an odd case. I actually think Hall is an elite player he's just a really closed minded player. He seems to skate around like it's just him on the ice sometimes.

I remember after he was traded from Jersey, I read an article talking about it, and it contained a quote from one of Jersey's players (I forget who), and he said that it was a lot less awkward in the dressing room and even on ice the way they played the game was a lot better because they weren't constantly trying to get it to one person all the time. With Hall gone, it opened up the options and gave the rest of the team more opportunity.

Makes sense. Once you take an individual like Hall out of the equation, it makes the rest of the team and actual team.

*are NOT what I consider elite. LOL.

I know you understood what I meant LL. Pretty sure everyone knew it was a typo. Still wanted to clarify. Changes the whole meaning of the comment.

I haven't read that article but that sounds about right based on what I have heard. He's a very selfish player who doesn't click with linemates well. When I watch Hall it's clear he has the talent but in his personal life is probably a dick.

Other than the year he won the Hart, I never felt he really hit his potential ever. Seems like an underachiever. But he thinks he's the best in the league. He's not. Even when he won the Hart trophy, I felt he wasn't the best choice, and it seemed more an attempt at the media punishing Chiarelli further for the Hall-Larsson trade than actually nominating him for a stellar performance.

He didn't even break 100 points that year. It just seemed a little awkward to me. Almost like it was Hall's redemption for proving Chiarelli wrong or something. But Larsson is still in Edmonton, where he has gotten even better since he was traded there, while Hall is gone from Jersey. Edmonton got more than they traded for, while Jersey has gotten less. So did Jersey really win that trade?
