It’s been reported many times now that Dubas is going to fix the d via free agency teams are going to want a lot when it comes to a top rhd In the trade market.

Flat cap means Dubas can probably sign someone like Brodie or Gudas short term. I can see it happening as a short term fix just not long term.

We could get better than that. Heinan is a plug and Comtois is too. Not much upside for either of those guys. Would either go for Lundestrom or trade them off separately for picks and draft our own younger guys with more upside.

The goal of this trade was not to get a top 6 forward both these players play a heavy game something Toronto has none of Dermott is never going to be more than a bottom pairing guy on the leafs that is pretty clear and kapanen I like but the only asset he brings is his pk ability other than that he still has trouble finishing and as we saw in game one on a break away he turned instead of taking it to the net this deal saves us cap dollars and we get two replacements who are just as good.

I don't think that's an accurate assessment of Dermott. I'm not sure if Reilly will be here in 2 years time. Muzzin is hitting an age any time now where he will start to slow down. Dermott and Sandin will be top 4 for years to come. Just takes some patience.

The biggest issue I have with trading Dermott is even though the team is stacked at LHD there are no high end defenceman in waiting beyond Sandin and possibly Liljigren.

I guess you could say that about everything though lol. Beyond Robertson who's in the system at all that may make an impact in the near future?

I still don't understand why he turned like that. Kapanen is a shoot first kind of guy. He is normally the type to drive the net and make a shot. So to see him do something like that kinda weirded me out. Was the game going so badly for him that he changed his style? I'm not sure what went through his mind. I can only imagine how hard it is out there. But for me, that was a really strange move by a guy known for his shooting more than his passing.
