Their are many on this site who have lost their love they had for manson just a year ago.

Im not 1 of them. With Ceci and his 4.5 million gone why not try Manson at 4.1 million. don't know if dermott is a D they want as LHD is their strong suit.

Aniheim seems like a team that wants prospects and picks for vet players.

Due to his crappy season the leafs may not need to trade high end assets to take on 2 years of mansons cap hit

Bracco and Kral may just be enough. Manson replaces ceci until the younger D is actually ready.

Ok so if Dermott is better, then this deal can definitely happen.
Also, what kind of contract will Dermott need? With the cap staying flat the Leafs are not in a good cap situation.

Dermott won't command a large salary. Even on an 8 year deal he probably only gets 4/ yr. I can see him getting some kind of bridge at around 2.

The question of what kind of contract Dermott will need is a tough one. Most people would want to sign him long term to as low as AAV as possible. But with the whole the virus situation, a bridge deal might be best. I really don't know, but rumors seem to be swirling around him getting a deal somewhat along the lines of Holl.

I've lost my love for Manson. He's really fallen down the charts as far as top defensemen go. At one point he was ranked quite high among top 50 defensemen in the NHL. Not anymore. He fell off the chart like a stone in water. It was very impressive to see him go downhill faster than Keith even.

I guess for me, the fact is that I was real big on him for a while there and was hoping Leafs would trade for him. After four years of getting better and better, the last two years have seen him implode. Not all his fault I'm sure, as Anaheim as a team has tanked. But I still expected much better than what we we've seen. This year was his worst. Even worse than his rookie year.

Is it a bit low opportunity? I don't know. Ceci wasn't worth the money he got and Manson isn't worth what he currently makes either. Leafs don't have any real bad contracts right now. Let's leave it at that.

Would love to see a 4/ 8yr kind of deal for Dermott. Would be a steal if Reilly leaves and dermott becomes the 1LHD.

The Leafs legit can not afford an expensive deal for Dermott. A short cheap bridge like a 3 year deal is what is needed. The Leafs are cap struck because of zero bridge deals with any of their young high end talent.
