Seen it to much. That said, I wouldn't want tanev for above reason.

If Brodie can be signed I don't hate the moves. Muzzin plays top line minutes, Dermott or Sandin play PP and you have a reliable top 4 with Muzzin. Muzzin even played PP in LA which everyone forgets so if needed he still can.

Thats a big problem on this site, people forget regularly the cap isn't going to go up so 2 out of 3 of hyman reilly and Andersen walk. I think hyman can play his game longer than reilly can play his. Reilly to vancouver also probably brings a large haul, hometown boy. I also see hyman as the only leaf who might take a hometown discount.

Andersen will walk. They have Campbell signed for 1 year longer and will look for 1 of Woll or Scott to develop into a potential starter

Rielly will be re-signed, Kessel's dead cap falls off that year as well.

Tanev is trying to challenge Evel Knievel for the record of most broken bones. I don't think he is suitable. Brodie is a much better choice. If I'm reading you correctly, you think Brodie will be $7M (hence the $4M in savings between what he and Tanev will be signing for? ) . I don't think he's that much better than Tanev. And I also don't think Tanev will sign for as low as $3M either.

If we could get Brodie for less than $6M, they should do it and somehow dump the salary needed to make him fit. The difference in Brodie and Tanev salaries won't be massive, but the difference in player is.

Buffalo has no goalie? I feel like they would make this deal and extend Andersen. Georgiev hasn't proven anything, johnsson if not hurt probably could have landed georgiev on his own. So adding a second is a very generous addition. Georgiev is currently the rangers third string. A third string can not garner more than a 2nd on their own typically. We are adding a middle six winger.

Please islandjet, fire back with how these deals don't work for these teams.

Bonus statement.

Buffalo wants to play a similar style to Toronto. I think Andersen is their guy. Buffalo needs to make a move to better themselves, time is running out before eichel and dahlin ask to get out. They need a high end goaltender. If they can land lehner this trade doesn't happen if lehner signs with a current contender as I think he will. My guess is Edmonton. Then I think Buffalo looks for a goalie on the trade market to replace shaky ullmark.


As for leafsgm I was just saying both players I would take a run at. I just think if tanev is healthy him and muzzin would be a great shut down pair. Where as if it is brodie we probably pay a little more and look at getting a lineup like I list below. I had the goal of signing tanev at a lower cost because of the cap staying level.

Ok. So I did misunderstand what you had written. I thought so. If we had a choice somehow of signing Tanev to $3M, or Brodie to $5.5M, I got to go with Brodie every time.

There's other good free agents out there too that won't cost as much and don't have the injury history Tanev has. They might not be as good. But at least they will be around the whole season. Tanev is literally useless when he is laid up in hospital with yet another broken body part.
