Leafs trade Andersen, 1st
Arizona trades Kuemper, Westerlund, Hossa (LTIR)

We gain an upgrade in net, who is also signed for another two years at less than Andersen is currently, a good RHD prospect player, and Hossa's LTIR to give us some more breathing room for cap space if needed

Arizona just lost their 1st next year and their 2nd this year. Between the penalties for breaking the combine rules and the Taylor Hall trade (assuming he re-signs), they won't have a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd for the next two years. So the 1st we provide them would be valuable to them. Andersen effectively replaces Kuemper. No one seriously expects Arizona to make the playoffs, so the fact he is a choker won't be a big deal.

He does have an extra year signed at 500k less per year but just remember his stats might be a little inflated due to arizona being a more defensive team. put him on toronto and who knows. he is also only 6 months younger than andersen.

Andersen may be a choke artist but what has kuemper ever done. he stunk it up way more than andersen.

Id hate leafs to lose a 1st rounder for a marginal upgrade and cap savings. but hey i'm definetly no goalie expert so i may be wrong on kuemper. westerlund is a decent prospect. he'd be leafs 5th best defence prospect so not bad. getting that hossa contract is a good idea as well.

Just don't like that 1st rounder.

Seems like fair value. Hard to tell what Arizona wants. They seem to be throwing money around trying to win but probably should rebuild. If they rebuild though, you won't get a solid prospect.

I'm thinking Arizona wants something else added. Maybe not something big but a B prospect.

The difference is that Kuemper only had one bad playoffs. And on a way worse team than Leafs even. Andersen has had four playoffs of weak goals that were series killers.

Also the dude had to be exhausted, 60 shot games. He was Arizonas best player even in 7-1 losses. I've been on teams that just get dominated you get tired and worn down If you're badly getting out played.

Agreed. It's not about the quantity of goals let in. It's about the quality. And timing. Those early goals and soft goals and crucial moments of the game are what makes Andersen such a let down. If it was only the one year, yes, we give him another chance. After seeing it four years in a row. No more chances for you! Dubas gave him more than enough opportunity. The fact he is being shipped around right now tells us everything we need to know.
