Leafs trade Marner
Calgary trades Andersson, Gaudreau

Get some Johnny Hockey in the team. Andersson is a stud signed long term on a good deal. If Marner is what it takes to get him, let’s do it. Hopefully we can re-sign JG to a decent deal after. But I doubt it. He comes up for renewal same time as Rielly. And I know who I would rather keep.

Agree0 Disagree2

Good trade for both teams.

Is Andersson a stud. I mean he is good but maybe a bit overrated on this site. I still do deal no probs but just don’t have same opinion of him as a player

Johnny hockey with Matthews would be a fun combo.

Maybe “stud” is a bit over-the-top. But he’s a damn good player. Corsica has him ranked 36th for his position, so outside the top 50. At his age, he still has upside (probably not much though) .

I trust Calgary when it comes to their defensemen. We did take Brodie away from them after all. Lol.

Good points.

Good idea, but i believe Johnny Hockey can play much better than season 19-20, and if Johnny play with matthews i think Auston do much more goals and johnny pass more. Good idea i like!

Yea, this is an interesting one. Money in/ out is good on both sides. Value seems right. Just not sure if Calgary would feel the upgrade of Marner over Gaudreau is enough to justify the whole on D by losing Andersson. I like it though.

Calgary lost Hamonic and Brodie, brought in Tanev. They seem to think they have enough on defence especially with Markstrom in net now. I'm thinking they take this. They don't seem sold on Johnny Hockey anymore and he hasn't been trading. My assumption is they can't get what they want for him.

This is an original post and I like it.

It makes sense for sure.

My own preference is to have 2 players making 11M or whatever rather than 1, simply because it creates depth and there's less risk.

Each organization would have reasons to consider this deal. I suspect Calgary would want a mid-level prospect or pick though to mitigate some risk.

If you add Liljegren, Calgary would be hard pressed to say No.

Why notncentwr a deal behind marner and gaudreau, being in a 1st round picks with it because you still have to have players in 4 years anyways.

I think the leafs can do a lot more with 5m cap space then bring in Andersson. Nothing against him, I just think the leafs will be in a better position for the empty cap space.
