The more I look at ekholm the more I kinda want him it would make us the strongest roster no doubt

Tor: Kerfoot Dermott Liljegren 1st
Nsh: ekholm Haula

I mean even a third pair of ekholm and bogo would be great spread the ice time evenly with all pairs worry about the expansion draft after we win the cup Haula is another defensive player who can move up and down the lineup and would be valuable to our pk

I really like your proposal. Haula replaces what we have in Kerfoot as LW and Ekholm is a big upgrade on Dermott. Both Haula and Ekholm help the PK.
Without moving Nylander, there are not many deals out there to improve the Leafs, but you just did it with this deal.
A stronger defense leads to a better offense. We won't miss either Dermott or Kerfoot, but Ekholm could be a difference maker.

Good trade.

I agree and to the people thinking about next year the move is trade Reilly for a stud rhd Sandin slides in now this is what your blue line looks like next year

Ekholm Brodie
Muzzin new guy
Sandin other guy

Guessing Holl would get claimed as Seattle’s pick.

It looks good for the leafs, but I am not sure this gets it done for Nash.
For one, Ekholm and Haula=$5.5M. Kerfoot and Dermott=$4.5. We don't have $1.1M, so you have to get Nash to eat 1/ 2 of Haula's contract. That will cost more.
Kerfoot may be worth a second right now. Dermott is a 3rd pair D-man atm and needs to be protected as does Kerfoot. Liljegren hasn't broken into the NHL yet and is probably ranked our 3rd to 4th best prospect. The 1st will be a late first in a crap shoot draft and won't carry the same value as a normal year.
Ekholm still has a year left on his contract at a great cap hit of 3.75M and still considered a first pair D-man. Nash has no need to trade him until next deadline if they don't get an overpay this year.

So we lose Holl in the summer expansion draft? Protect only 4 defence.

Alot to give up for a rental.

I thinks your over thinking this one RLF here’s my trade breakdown

Kerfoot = Haula
Ekholm = Dermott Liljegren 1st

The asking price is what Muzzin got which was two prospects and a first if you ask me this package is way better than what we sent la Dermott is a cheap player who has top 4 potential Liljegren same thing and is a rhd which there are not many of and a first which maybe this years or next depending on what maybe asked as for the money it’s a matter of moving a few ahl contracts around not hard to do that’s why we have prinham.

22 Mar 2021 19:18:54
This is pleanty to get it done. Kerfoot is a good player on a good contract. Dermott may develop into a top 4 as well as Lilly + a 1st to boot.

I just don't see Ekholm as the saviour. I would much prefer a gritty middle 6 winger that is great at killing penalties.

Dermott and Bogo really aren't a bad 3rd pairing. They do what they need too.

If Ekholm is brought in I think you probably ship out Muzzin or Reilly. Their is no reason whatsoever to acquire Ekholm and have him play 3rd pairing minutes.

22 Mar 2021 21:56:31
Cup67 ekholm has another year left on his deal and exposing Holl does suck but I mean leafs could pay the pick to Seattle to have them pick another player that’s what Vegas did.

22 Mar 2021 22:01:39
Ekholm Brodie
Muzzin Holl
Reilly Bogosian
Would b awesome. 2 shut down pairs and shelter Reilly from defensive responsibilities. Ekholm is my number 1 choice with Savard being my second. I rather the Leafs go after Iafollo then Haula.

23 Mar 2021 07:44:33
Is Ekholm better than Reilly? I don't think so. Even if you think he is marginally better what's the point?

23 Mar 2021 11:31:13
You guys may be right and I am off on my value. I just don't see Kerfoot as having a "good" contract as he is two year removed from his 40 pt seasons and unless he is you 2nd or 3rd line centre, 3.5 is a lot is he is a 3rd line winger. Dermott has shown glimpses of maybe being a top 4, but is already 24 and not shown he is consistently capable yet. If he is a 3rd pair, they are a dime a dozen. Liljegren is the wild card here, but again, almost 22 and hasn't even cracked the Leafs lineup, so to figure he works out more than a second pair, is probably wishful thinking. The 1st is no different than a 2nd this year as picks 25-40 are probably going to have the same value this draft. I would also say that Ekholm likely holds a little more value than Muzzin did. I also believe to a team like Toronto, that Haula at half the salary and pending UFA, probably has more value to Toronto than Kerfoot as they are likely moving him anyway.

Not enough to get him. How do you protect him from Seattle?
