Here's a different approach to the offseason

Tor: Reilly conditional 2022 1st J.anderson
Cbj: Jones

Conditions are if jones walks to free agency becomes a 2nd in 2022

Leafs sign Oleksiak 3x3

New dcore
Muzzin Jones
Brodie Oleksiak
Sandin Holl

What i see here is Columbus knows that if they keep him he's going to walk so teams are going to use that to there advantage so they get from the leafs a player with similar abilities that they could resign or flip at the deadline a possible 1st and a nhl ready prospect leafs push all in this year get home town guy who is a monster and has everything the leafs need

Agree0 Disagree3

Honestly Reilly straight up for Jones or it’s a no go, I don’t really see a point in giving up more especially when Reilly had a much better season imo.

Jones puts up better numbers in the defensive end Reilly defensively is one of the worse dmen in the league.

24 Jun 2021 03:45:41
Jones put up abysmal numbers in the D -zone by his own standards though.

Rielly isn't good but he isn't Tyson Barrie bad in his own end.

Jones is a good defenseman but as is I don't see the point. Rielly wasn't the reason this was a short trip.

Also you can't offer picks based on resigning anymore.

24 Jun 2021 07:31:45
@AF7 is that how it works now? I seriously didn't pay attention to some of that. Craiggers explained the whole thing about conditions before but I can't remember if it's conditions on just playoffs and the like, or if it's all conditions.

Is that new because I’m pretty sure I’m the Clifford deal if Toronto brought him back it was going to cost them a 2nd instead of a 3rd.

24 Jun 2021 12:57:31
I think it is only for the 20 and 21 draft because of the cv19. I believe it is expected back to normal for the 22 draft as long as we have a normal season.

24 Jun 2021 17:28:03
But what does that matter the draft hasn’t changed teams should be able to trade any way they want or raise the cap because with a flat cap for the next few years this is how the top teams will stay competitive by coming up with ways. To make a trade happen.

24 Jun 2021 19:18:08
When they changed the rules, they didn't know if the draft was happening or not and skipping a year in the draft was considered, which would stop stipulations where a pick could be delayed until the next season.

25 Jun 2021 10:42:45
See I was under the impression the nhlpa had it nixed because it was making it so teams wouldn't resign some players because the cost was to much, and it lowered their odds of staying in the NHL, even if just mildly. Clifford is an example of this, he wanted to stay with Toronto, but that resigning fee of an extra pick made it not worth it for the leafs. He did find other work but there have been others who haven't.

25 Jun 2021 12:59:54
@AF7. Interesting. I never heard that. I had read the biggest issues were not sure if there were going to be playoffs last season and a draft for each year. In that case, certain stipulations would not be possible, so they removed them.
