So run back what failed last year.?

06 Jul 2021 10:07:24
You showed you added in Kessel but forgot to actually add his money in so u only have .88 left to spend.

06 Jul 2021 12:54:41
There is absolutely no chance Hyman signs that. I think we all need to accept he's gone.

06 Jul 2021 14:55:38
Yup run it back! And yes it looks like I left out kessel so not much spending left over. Lol! That said hymn can go else where he isn’t worth 5 million a season. He’s playing with top talent that are softer than him which in case makes himself look better by going to the dirty areas!
Fu$k Hymn! If he walks!

06 Jul 2021 15:37:10
ya hymn not signing for that. and too much for galcheniuk.

06 Jul 2021 17:41:32
Galchenyuk replaces hymn at a discount.

06 Jul 2021 20:03:38
@LHD, But you are giving Gal too much money and term for a guy off the NHL scrap heap. Overpaying Gal instead of Hyman doesn't seem like a discount.

06 Jul 2021 21:22:50
@LHD I tend to agree about Hyman. Someone will sign him for 5-6 and I think they probably regret it. He has a history of injuries, he's 29 and he only produces with superstars.

He's definitely a great player and I would love to keep him around but I don't see it happening.

07 Jul 2021 00:05:09
K so Galchenyuk maybe overpaid in my proposal but I would guesstimate that He produces equally or better than hymn if given the same role. If hymn wants more let him walk and we have some more money to play with like going after a Niederreiter type player or even see what Folingo wants. Hymn isn’t worth 4 million but I agree I think someone will offer him more and he should take it.

07 Jul 2021 07:32:10
@LHD one thing it Hink we all neglect to take into account (myself included) if Marner and Mathews need Hyman ehya re they making that money?

07 Jul 2021 14:02:26
@LL. I think many people forget that whatever top 3 line Hyman gets out on becomes more dangerous and Hyman produces solid point totals. Will he produce as much with a less talented team, not likely. But neither would most players.

07 Jul 2021 22:22:14
@RLF I don't disagree at all. Hyman is one of my favourite Leafs of all time. He really won me over since he got here.

If we're being objective though, he is pushing 30 with a lot of injuries piling up now. How long can he sustain his physical play for?

My other point though is; if MNM+JT need Hyman then there's an issue. Your making that kind of money to drive a line. It shouldn't collapse because Hyman isn't around.

08 Jul 2021 12:49:39
@LL. My point wasn't that we should re-sign him regardless of cost' It was that he is worth at least $4M. My absolute max would be 6X$5 and let's face it, we can't really afford it as things are and I know that it might come back to haunt me. But i would think if Matthews ( Nylander as well) leaves in 3 years and JT is done in 4 with Marner, will Hyman's final two years really matter if he has declined?

As for your other point, I don't think of it in that much of a vacuum. Why can't MNM+JT drive the line AND Hyman be a valuable piece? Why is it one way or the other? I look at MMN+JT are like the speedy gifted running back and Hyman is a great Fullback. Hyman creates holes and openings for them by getting opponents out of the way so the the running back can find the holes and use his speed and skill. Sometimes you give the fullback the ball and he is going to plow straight ahead and bull his way through. The RB on his own is more important to team success, but having a really good fullback makes him that much more effective. Take away the fullback or use a lesser fullback and the running backs games likely suffers. Anyhow, that is kinda how I see Hyman's value.
