Sent a post earlier but not sure if it went through.
Here we go again:

Leafs #1 target should be Evander Kane, unless Dubas is secretly targeting Hamilton (highly unlikely)

Trade
Kerfoot 3.5M (1.75 actual $) + Hallander
For
Evander Kane (1.5M retained)

Why SJ do trade?
-Kane is cancer in room, which is public knowledge
-SJ gains 2M in cap space even retaining 1.5M
-Gives them more wiggle room to resign Hertl next season (Hertl is a much more valued commodity)

Why Leafs do trade?
-Kane is a prototypical Power Forward who plays more than 18 minutes per game ... something Leafs don't have and desperately need IMO
-Gut feeling, I belive another reason Dubas resigned Simmonds is because of the history between these 2 players ... they worked together in creating Hockey Diversity Alliance
-Hopefully that gives Kane an extra incentive to come to Toronto, plus Simmonds can be a buffer in the room to help difuse any possible friction

If you don't agree with this deal, is there another trade scenario you see for Kane?

one can dream, I've been saying get kane at all costs, our version of josh Anderson just better ok the ice, worse off the ice. I care about winning, up to management and coaches to try to keep off ice issues in check. he's the piece the leafs need not a hyman.

One question. How many SC winners can you name that had a "cancer in the room"? Kessel was not anywhere near as bad as Kane in that way.

Why? Just why? The problem with this current team is psychological. Adding more issues won't help.

Unless maybe we just sign and trade for everyone no one else wants. DeAngelo, Lucic, Kane, etc. Maybe they sort themselves out? Lol.
