So a thought occurred to me. A trade for now and the future between toronto and Nashville.


Tor: marner


Nash: forsberg, cousins, askarov, 1st


We have 2 players for right now in forsberg. Skill, grit. Forsberg needs a new contract after next season as will cousins but that won't total the whole 11m value of marners.

Askarov is a very likely starter goaliewho can take the reigns in a couple years how viselevski did in Tampa. And a 1st is a first.

Now this does look like a lot to give up to Nashville, but I think marner would bring in the resurgence of Duchene.

A decent top 2 lines. Still have Spezza cousins kerfoot Engvall and players to fill out the lower 6. And all the flexibility we currently have in our defense pairing.

Sorry, I don' think you get that for Marner. Forsberg is worth a 1st+, Askarov was just taken 11th overall in 2020 and then another 1st + a serviceable player in Cousins. Basically (3) 1sts, Cousins + for Marner. If Marner's contract was closer to what it should have been, he may hold that value, but his value is hurt by that $10.9 cap hit.

Other GM's have scouts watching our games as well if they want a player. Everyone knows he isn't worth this.

@Hrwnlkin if Marner is the base for this it could turn into something larger no doubt it just isn't there yet.

im not holding my breathe. the perfect moves IMO is bringing in hamilton and shipping out reilly. hell maybe a reilly for askarov deal can be found after the expansion, but the leafs need top teir billing in net, the comparison of crawford to felix is very close so in reality, felix only had 2 good seasons.
