McCann is what Dubas wanted all along. He chose him over Bennett in 12 OHL draft and he spent what was needed to get Bennett on McCann.

1 summer late but pens old management lived McCann so kappy for McCann didn’t happen. Now hextall just gave us a better return.

Watch the trickle down affect start now. Dubas I can and I will plan just got jolted.

This needs to play out more before I call it a good deal or not. This is just the beginning. What if Dubas traded for McCann with a deal in place with the Kraken they they take McCann over Kerfoot? Then it cost us Hallander and a 7th to keep Kerfoot. Or, what if we have to pay the Kraken something to take Kerfoot (or someone else) over McCann? This deal is not complete yet.

If leafs did same deal for Macleod you’d be super thrilled even though he to would be left unprotected. Same scenerio no matter how u try to word it.

Outside the big 4 every non exempt forward leafs had on their roster as if 5pm last night would all be exposed

It’s obvious Francis wasn’t helping hextall/ Burke so they pulled trigger on this deal. Now let’s see what Dubas can swing with Francis before we come up with a bunch of conclusions.

Francis might just want to leave Toronto in cap hell so take a Joey Anderson type player if he targets price or something. U just never know.

@JdB. Yes I would have been happy if it was McLeod. McLeod is signed for 2 years at .975. Not one year at almost $3M. Also, McLeod is not likely taken over Kerfoot or Dermott, but McCann might be. Not the same scenario as we wouldn't likely have to entice much to leave McLeod alone.
