So it is pretty much done that Hyman is gone to Edmonton. I think leaf fans have had enough with losing good players because of 4 guys taking up have of our cap space!

So why not break it up more as we are losing Hyman, Anderson and possibly Kerfoot and Rielly.

My main thing is it has to be Tavares or marner, nylander is on a decent deal, and you need a massive haul to give up matthews. Might be worth it if eichel pulls what they’re asking though, basically double it for matthews.

Agreed. I would at least trade Marner, albeit a very good player, just not worth what he's currently making. Shame we lost Hyman, MCann, and Hollander + 7th for what? The leafs, at this moment, are not as strong as last year. Here's to hoping the executives make some smart moves in the coming weeks.

The Leafs didn't lost Hallinder and McCann. Basically, the Leafs traded Hallinder and a 7th to not lose anyone from their team. They just happened to flip them for McCann first.

The only way I would have viewed the McCann trade a win for Toronto is if Seattle took Kerfoot. McCann is younger and slightly cheaper than Kerfoot. I also think he would be a better fit on the top 6 wing than Kerfoot if Leafs tried him there. That would make losing Hallander and the 7th seem like it had an actual purpose. I don't think anyone, other then maybe a guy like Tanner views Kerfoot as a core piece, so he was replaceable and probably by a cheaper player.
