Interdivisional trades rarely happen I know. Ottawa is now really week at C with white being out 4-6 months. They have tons of cap space. They have pics and prospects. Leafs have bottom 6 depth and could use some cap space.

Ottawa picks up a versatile forward in Kerfoot that could slot into the 3C spot and can play up the lineup if needed. Signed for two years and only owed $.750 this year and $2.75 next season. Kind of contract Ottawa would like.

Leafs mostly clear cap space and move opt some of the bottom 6 log jam. Kastelic is a bottom 6 project who is big and plays with desire. They trade their 2nd rounder to get a likely higher 2nd and a 3rd. They can easily carry a full roster now and risk losing less players to waivers.

In the absence of another spot for Kerfoot I’d probably do this trade. Like what I’ve read about him and he’s big and plays with desire as you state. Perhaps he can make the big squad sometime in the future.

The bigger benefits are much needed cap space and a higher 2nd pick and an additional 3rd pick.

I do like Kerfoot’s speed, energy and PK but we have those pieces in reserve already!

Maybe this trade will allow us to keep the enigma that we have in Engvall!

If this move happened, then I would like to see if we could get Brett Ritchie off Calgary. Shouldn't take much.

We would have skill, size, toughness. That third line should create some issues in the O-zone. That is 3 big boys to deal with. Not sure if quick enough as a group though. Ritchie, Kase and even Engvall I believe can play up the lineup if there are injuries. Still have Brooks, Amadio, Robertson in the minors if needed.
