3 team trade because I want what I want.lol

Nash
Kerfoot $3.5M(T)
2022 3rd (W)

Wash
Amirov ELC(T)

Tor
Leason .843 (W)
Trenin .733(N)
Ingram .725(N)

Nashville gets a more productive and speedy C/winger and a 3rd round pick for their current tough, but unproductive 3rd line winger and a goalie that is currently 4th on their depth chart. Most likely Askarov joins Saros next season, which makes Ingram moveable.

Wash gets a more two way mid 6 forward prospect that is a little younger and needs more time to develop for a bigger power forward that they have no room for that is older and more ready.

Leafs save a about $1.2M in cap space and pick up two big wingers and a possible backup for Campbell while only losing Kerfoot off of the roster. The additions to the team should allow them to also move Engvall and possibly Mrazek if Ingram plays well. Ingram is signed for next season at $.733, Trenin will not take a lot to re-sign nor should Leason. One trade that could solve many Leafs issues up front and in goal.

I’m in!
Only caveat is what will Amirov be?

If the deal works to help the Leafs, can't worry about what Amirov becomes. If Leason and Trenin find themselves in the mid 6 (or Leason complimentary winger top line, maybe Trenin 4th line) and Ingram works out, it doesn't really matter about Amirov imo. We need some size that want to play and can play.

I like it. Amirov is a wild card right now so it's worth it to me.

Just looked at more video of Trenin for those who haven’t seen his fight with Chara should have a look!

Good trades except Washington declines

Leason is finding his way up higher in lineup with Oshie injury. Washington is winger weak. If he is as good as u think he may be I’m sure Washington knows. If he can’t stay in Washington top 6 then how can he do sand in Toronto.

I don’t think he is a diamond in rough. Washington knows what he is and now he is starting to prove it. 1 season too late.

@JdB. Maybe you are right they decline, maybe not. But I disagree with you here on how they are playing Leason and maybe how they view him.

To my knowledge, he is playing 3rd/ 4th line and it is McMichael that has moved into the top 6 C spot now. They have been playing Sheary and Sprong ahead of Leason in the top 6. Caps are playing him on average under 8 mins a night. He played only 6 mins his last game. Leason's first goal was a weak shot from the sidewall that Hedman tipped into his own net. The second was a nice jam play at the side of the net. He only had 1 pt (a goal) this year in 5 games in the AHL. He hasn't been killing it by any means.

My opinion, he is more of a need in Toronto than in Washington long term and a guy like Amirov eventually playing on the same team as the Russian legend Ovi career comes to a close, makes some sense.

You asked if he can't stay in the Caps top 6, how does he stay in Toronto's? Let's look at the normal wingers on each team that play top 9.
The Caps - Ovetchkin, Wilson, Mantha, Sheary, Sprong, Hagelin, Hathaway (Oshie also plays wing sometimes)
The Leafs - Marner, Nylander, Bunting, Kerfoot, Kase, Engvall, Ritchie.

Ovi, Wilson and Mantha all signed for a minimum 3 years (Oshie as well if they want to move him to the wing as McMichael develops) . Marner and Nylander only for a minimum 3 years on the Leafs. One top 6 opening on the Caps wing. Two on the Leafs wing.

In Washington, Leason has to beat out Sprong, Sheary, Hagelin and Hathaway (possibly Oshie) plus any other young guys like Jonsson-Fjallby, Lapierre, Pilon for 1 spot. In Toronto he has a chance at two spots between him and Kerfoot, Bunting, Engvall, Kase, Ritchie and young guys Robertson and Amirov.
Caps have size up front without Leason, Leafs have very little. Leason is likely to be destined to play a role in the bottom 6 in Washington. Amirov being two years younger should fit better into the Caps longer term plans.

I see him as still a bit of a diamond in the rough, but as he keeps improving his skating, he may be a good complimentary piece to highly skilled guys. Amirov may develop into a guy that can drive his own line which the Caps will need more than a complimentary big man once their core is even older and ready to retire. At least that is how I view it anyway, which isn't really worth much. lol.

Very interesting. His stats suggest he is replacing Oshie but hey I’m wrong so yeah go get Leason.

Smart idea.
