So just curious on everyone's take on this....is there any kinda trade that would be worth our while to go after Murray in Ottawa assuming he clears.....base package would be Mrazek for Murray but what else could we get from Ottawa for taking on a contract that is back loaded as far as money goes...leafs don't care they have cash to spend to have him sit on Marlies...maybe they can rebuild him for later this season like they did Galch....heard he might still be sick/weak from C.V. issues...Woll has a good record but still worry it's just a result of Leafs playing extra hard in front of the rookie.

Could a deal involving a player from the Sens where we could get Zub or Norris or one of their other players make sense?

@Randy. sorry forgot to mention that Ottawa would have to retain about 3million in cap. just the idea of if he could be worked on like Galch and having him come up for playoffs if Woll falters is intriguing. same goes for Kane. i know he has a lot of off ice issues but if both could be acquired with half cap retained be like having 2 6-7 million dollar players at half price

@waterbuffalo. he has not played on a great team in Ottawa and leafs have been playing great defensely lately.

Going after Murray would be a huge gamble at this point even at half price. He seems to have lost all of his confidence and I can't imagine that the pressure of playing in Toronto would help that.

@RLF. i know. but a 2 time cup winner sitting in minors as a backup is still tempting to me for some reason. we all thought Galchenuyk was finished but he turned it around. i would say same thing applies to having Kane. imagine his skill and talent on Mathews wing. top guy at half price that it would normally cost. i know his off ice issues are bad but still would be interesting.

@Loxley. Gal was a low risk/ reward situation. No big cap hit to worry about and no long contract commitment to consider.
IF, and that's a big IF, Murray could find his game and Kane could become a guy dedicated to hockey and keep his crap together, they would help any team for sure. I think you are more of a gambler on taking on these kind of projects than I would be. If you hit on one though, it could be a huge win.

@RLF i hear ya. se with Murray at half retained wether he bounces back or not leafs could keep him in minors and roll with Woll if his play keeps up or sign any of the other low cost backups that signed like Halak and reimer did. Kane on the other hand would need to stay on the team. i know it's a huge gamble. just hard to believe that talent would go wasted in the minors. and if Murray's cap if only half then i think he would be also easy to move to a team like buffalo at 3mil. just trying to add top talent or guys that have done it instead of the dumpster diving Dubas has to do due to the four big forward contracts we have now. i think they both only have 2 more years after this so not like we would locked in long term to either.

@Loxley. See what you are saying. But we would also have over $2M dead cap if you sent Murray down since Leafs can't bury his whole cap hit. That would still leave Dubas dumpster diving to fill out the roster as Leafs would have $2M less to spend against the cap. No?

@RLF I did not project it for after this year. might try it out on cap friendly tonight to see if we could still fit about %mil for Soup. while still having Kane on team. the 2mil or so for Murray would be dead cap but again i think at 3mil he could be traded elsewhere to a team like Phoenix or Buffalo or someone that needs a goalie assuming we can't fix him. not sure what a buyout would cost if they went that route as well.
