I saw today the devils are willing to move the second overall pick for an impact player so if you're the leafs do you not look at something around these lines

Tor: nylander
Njd: 2nd overall pick

It's a win win for the leafs they shed that cap space and get a good young player

I posted a Nylander for the devil's first a few days back before the draft. I think Nylander might be worth 6-9 OA depending on the gm, but never the second.

Is Nylander considered an "impact player"?
I see Nylander as a complimentary piece. Not sure how NJ views him.

@Hrenklin. So basically Nylander and a 7th for the 2nd overall?
Maybe I am undervaluing Nylander, but I just don't see it. I think it is something like Nylander, 2022 1st and a good plus (Robertson? ) and Leafs may get NJ's attention.
2nd overall is Slafkovsky (huge power forward) or maybe Cooley (fast, skilled C) unless the pick is way off the board or Montreal doesn't take Wright (unlikely) . Can't see NJ thinking Nylander is the better option. That said, I think Nylander may end up in Jersey, but not straight up basically for the 2nd overall.

Nylander plus Sandin plus a really good prospect in Steeves for the 2nd overall and Bratt still seems like an overpayment to me.
Maybe replace Sandin with Holl (if NJ is even interested)
Or, offer Nylander, Robertson and Steeves,
Or Nylander, Steeves and the 3rd round pick Leafs received from the Canucks for Dermot,
Or, Nylander and Leaf’s 1st round pick for the 2nd overall and Bratt.

I see a lot of Bratt added by NJ for some decent packages. Not sure if NJ will add Bratt as well. Think about some of the recent top 5 picks out there or former 2nd overall picks. Not all are stars, but some are future hall of farmers. The potential is what you are paying for and I just think that will cost a lot.
